anyone put a toyota tcase behind a 2.5L ax5 combo? Or adapted a W65 tranny to a 2.5L?

Thanks for the help

Why bother? AX5 to 231 to dana 300 is shorter, more compact and probably lighter.

My friend broke 2 output shafts on his toy last year, he is running the marlin doubler, I put the np231 advance adapters HD 32 spline SYE on mine with a HD chain, and have not had any breakage in over 5 years doing the same trails. Plus the 231 is the easiest case in the world to work on if need be. Just my 2 cents. Marc

broke 2 yota output shafts, WTF is he doing with them?

I have owned plenty of jeeps with manual trannies and 231's and now have a yota with dual cases and twin sticks. The yota cases blow the 231's out of the water as far as design/strength/reliability. Nothing like actually being able to feel a shift fork engage (because the shifter goes directly into the top of the case) rather than that shitty stock jeep linkage clunk which lets loose as soon as the motor torques:laughing:

The only problem I see is that yota cases have a lower output (on the wrong side) and the tcase is taller because the gear arrangement inside for lo reduction. Yours has the planetary reduction which is much more compact.

I wouldn't however swap a yota case in behind a six cylinder jeep unless you put the heat treated output shaft and upgrade the input to 23 spline. You have to remember these came behind a 22re with a whopping 100 horsepower.

weld it!

I run the sweet AX-5 with the Novak clocking ring and 21 spline input to a dana 300.

My friend is running a 4.3 turbo 350 combo, with 38,s and is actually wheeling it hard, toyota case is'nt a bad case for the stock engine, but has a weak output shaft, and there is'nt many after market upgrades worth a shit to make it stronger, that is why I never persued this option, I've run the 231j with an advance adapter 32 spline output and a 231c chain and cogs and is bombproof behind my 4 cyl. with 37s. and a kluneV. In the long run you would save yourself alot of time by just installing a 4.1 kit in your 231 without having to rig your jeep with alot of adapters. Marc
