: Carnage canyon sunday july 2nd
rock90 06-22-2006, 08:17 AM Me and some friends plan on running carange canyon sunday july 2nd.
if anyone wants to go they are welcome to go. The trail is supposed
to be as hard as independence. so body damage is likely.
We plan meet at the dinner at the johnson village truck stop at 9:30.

"it's not fun until some gets hurt"
I won't be able to make this one. I have family in town. You guys have fun and take lots o pictures.
FrankenRover 06-22-2006, 03:15 PM I might be able to make it.
I have walked it when we went and did chinaman's gulch in the Land Croozer - it looks pretty devistating - it doenst have the ups and downs of Independance - but it has HUGE boulders all over it - making for some interesting obstacles. The final set of falls (bout 20 or so yards up) have very loose rock on them and I can't see how something other than one of those Icelandic hill climbers could make it up without a winch.
Seeya,
Bill
Bill hope to see you there! Ed I am in. Ashley (wife) will be joining me as well so I hope it is challenging. She though indy was boring! Bill you still interested in the mojave's???
Way
Jtisdale 06-22-2006, 07:29 PM much tighter in some of the turns, not body friendly. The last waterfall has gotten easier as the right side has been eroded and created a different line on the exit, still really tough. Bill I bet you make it up.
Tis
Mustard Dog 06-22-2006, 08:46 PM Are you guys talking about Carnage in Cali, or is there one in Co as well:confused:
jabber 06-22-2006, 09:24 PM He's probably talkin about Carnage in Colorado... Outside of Boulder.
I might be able to make this run... This is a FUN run... High potential for body damage. :D
east_beast 06-22-2006, 09:34 PM If it's the one in CO, I've ran it in my TJ back in the summer of '01 when I was working in RMNP. Back then, I was running a 2" coil spacer lift and 31x10.50 TrxUs MTs, open front and rear. We had went to Left Hand Canyon just to do some playing around. I knew Carnage was there, but I wasn't sure exactly where. Well, I got in there and went a bit far and KNEW I had found it! Pinch Rock is a good gatekeeper. That trail is all I wanted and plenty more that summer! That TJ had to get me back to NC!

If Rock90 is refering to the Carnage in Boulder this isn't even close to Independence. I believe there are two Carnage trails in CO. I have done this trail several times without damage, even solo less than two months ago with no damage- I think I just jinxed myself. If it's the one in Boulder County, I'll be there since I have a cabin right around the "corner". I just wish it was earlier. This trail can get pretty busy by mid morning and can take 6-8 hours to run it up to five fingers.
Jtisdale 06-23-2006, 05:34 AM Not CC near Boulder, the one near Buena Vista that shares an parking lot with Chinaman's Gulch.
Tis
rock90 06-23-2006, 08:37 AM I am talking about the trail near Buena vista colorado. It is an off shoot of chinaman's
I do not think it can run 31's It is considered an extreme trial.
Hey Tis did you run Carnage canyon or Die trying last year? How were they?
Ed
FrankenRover 06-23-2006, 11:30 AM Cant swing the Mojave's at this point Adam /sigh - I spent too much money on parts for Sandi's CJ7 - frame/front 60/Rear9/Altas and a new big GN trailer - blew my whole bonus wad for this quarter.
Looking forward to CC on the 2nd though. Maybe I can drag KC's mog ass up there as well.
Bill
Just to clear up the confusion for those who don't know. There are two Carnage Canyons trails in Colorado. One close to Boulder where we have run slightly modded Land Rovers through it and the 10 rated trail down by Buena Vista. You would not want anything short of a buggy or really built truck and big balls (Tis) to run this trail. Stockers would in very short time become obstacles to crawl over!
That being said Ed is referring to the trail down by Buena Vista, right near Chinamans.
Any one up for Indy on the 4th of July. Seems fitting.
FrankenRover 06-27-2006, 07:29 AM I wont be able to make it this weekend. Hopefully next times guys.
Bill
My truck is down for a few weeks. Need to replace the springs as they are just flat worn out, along with tearing down the shocks as they don't seem to be doing there job lately, too much bounce in the truck. Also need to fix the electric fans and a few other minor things I managed to uncover recently.
Bummer. Hope to catch you guys on the next run. So I assume as of now it is Ed and Myself. Any other takers???

Bro you just FAWKED yourself.:flipoff2:
(Although I can testify to the fact that you ran it w/out a scratch on 32's) Now you have much more stuff to break. Send me the carnage at carnage pics...

I know Dude. I should have never have said it. We'll be back in a month or so. I know I'll have breakage soon with the 35's so stand by for the pics.
Jtisdale 07-03-2006, 07:17 AM any pics from Sunday?

rock90 07-03-2006, 08:16 AM hi Tis
unfortunatly I had to bail so we canceled the trip. My Vortec v6 developed a missfire and is in the shop to be fixed. We hope to do the trip late july or august
Ed
Jtisdale 07-03-2006, 09:59 AM make it late september and I'm in Ed.
Lets pick a weekend soon and plan on it Tis.
rock90 07-05-2006, 01:44 PM Hello Tis
I am willing to run Carnage Canyon in Sept. It is only 45 mintes from my house so it is no prolbem to run.
Ed
So what weekend? I have a wedding vacation for a friend at the end. How does early to mid Sept. look?
Jtisdale 07-05-2006, 07:58 PM Guys, I'll be out early for the rally so I don't have a big window. In fact Monday Sept 25th is probably the day I'll be in the area, possibly the 24th if we drive all night to get out there...which usually happens. What do you guys think?

rock90 07-06-2006, 08:37 AM Tis
Sept 25th work for me. you a welcome to stay at my house in Breck the night before. I plan to take most of that week off for the Rally so if you want to die trying or avalanche ranch also i am up for that also.

I would be up for Die Trying and maybe Avalanche Ranch prior to the Rally. I probably need to be in Moab sometimes Wednesday Evening.
Jtisdale 07-10-2006, 07:32 AM Ok guys, I think we can plan on Monday 25th for Carnage.
Larry- several guys from the east coast are headed out with me, we will have my 90, an EB, and a jeep. Our plan once we hit CO is to hit some wheeling and mountain biking as we work our way to Moab. We'd like to be in the GJ/Moab area buy Tuesday evening or Wednesday as well. Die Trying or Billings Canyon would be cool.
Ed- Thanks for the invite, I sent you a PM.

Sounds good. Anybody going to have a Ready Welder by then? Eventually we're going to break something big and I don't want to drag my junk back home 6 hours to fix it and drive back out 6 hours...
Jtisdale 07-11-2006, 06:05 AM Larry, I think you will be fine, body work is the only thing that may suffer on your rig.
