2.8 turbo diesel Tacho - wiring????

does anyone know who the factory rev counter wires up in a 2.8 turbo diesel????

I believe theres a pulse output from the fuel pump... I've got a tech document somewhere... I'll look it up for you when I find it.

Ok, the Plug on the 3.1TD is likely to be labeled E-36 - I would imagine the 2.8 is similar if not the same. It has two wires, one of which is likely to be black with a red trace, the other black with another coloured trace, possibly pink. And its going to be in/on the injector pump. The pump has a magnetic pickup in it, which sends pulses to the tacho assembly, which converts the pulse frequency to a readout on a dial.
