How long do you all think a Dana 35 stock would hold up to 33X12.50 Tires with mild wheeling nothing serious? And if i can get it cheap the 30 spline axles with a detroit soft locker? And 4.56?
Untill i build my 8.8?
Any one know and deals on these parts?

should hold up pretty well, no need to upgrade your shafts or anything really inless your going to beat the hell out of the thing. just think of it as a ticking time bomb, have a back up plan

dump the money on the 8.8 and roll the 35 for a while, mine on 35s lasted a little while but i beat the shit out of it too. there wernt any rocks though, i lived in alaska then and its more mud than rock i think the rocks take more of a toll on a drive train

My little bro rolled that way for a year, with only light mudding. Build your 8,8 and get it under there asap though

Why invest money into gears & locker for the D35, when you can instead just buy the gears & locker for the 8.8. Just run what you have, and build the 8.8. A couple of years ago, I bought a used lockright ($125) and installed it into my D35. I figured I could afford to spend that much on the D35, but no more. I was easy on it and ran many trails, including a few trips to the Rubicon. I ran what I had, until I found a good deal on an 8.8, and invested some money & time into building it. Where are you? I have a D35 with 3.07's & a lockright for sale, if interested.

I am in New Mexico. I usually go on old forest roads and fire Trails. I dont ever see any huge rocks. Mostly a few feet of snow and some deep mud steep hills and a little sand thats about it. As for right now i am stationed in FT drum NY near water town.Lots of snow and mud.My jeep is also my DD.And i travel about 2500 miles one way home for leave twice a year. So i need good performance on the high way the reson for re gearing for the 33" tires to 4.56.

What kinda jeep is it? Auto, 5 speed? 4.56 seems low for a DD with 33's. If you really want to throw money at a D35 ebay up some stock 4cyl 4.10 gears for cheap. Wheeled the D35 (still doing it) in my 98 beater TJ with 35 boggers, some times at red line while bouncing off the ground climbing rocks without incident. I think people don't give enough credit to the stock axles but then again I may just be lucky. Never the less there is a 9 inch in the garage awaiting transplant.

It all depends on how you treat it.
The D35 will hold up ok for a little while if you don't give it hell. I ran a D35 w/ 4.56's for about a year with 35 inch Boggers, but it didn't see any rocks, I had a 4 cylinder at the time, and I BABIED it... After I swapped out to 3/4 ton axles, a buddy of mine used my old D35 and it lasted him about 3 months before he blew it up. I have had two friends with open 35 rears and 33 inch tires grenade their spider gears.
If you can find someone getting rid of a D35 rear for free or next to nothing, it might be worth picking it up for the spare axle shafts and for the spare side and spider gears.
Put as little money into the D35 as possible (preferrably no money at all), and build the 8.8 while you wheel what is already under your Jeep.

Yep, but honestly though, a lot about making an axle (or any other drivetrain part) survive is knowing how to drive and when you are stressing your parts. Watching other idiots constantly breaking shit is a good way to learn, while you laugh as you drive around them.
