Knew someone would ask...

Moving a V-8 powered YJ into CA.

Figure out the rest!:vader:

Now will they fit without major mods?

They won't work at all. The fender profile where they meet the tub is completly different. Better off making flatfenders out of your YJ fenders

Stay away from the Flatties with those blasphemous thoughts:eek: :flipoff2:

I second what oldjeep said.

If was you I would have someone, or yourself, build fenders like H8 has on his "YJ"

I have a set I would get rid of, however there is no way you want to do this, it is harder then what these guys make it out to be, and they are making it out to be hard.

One...The profile of the gill is not the same.

Two...you would have to hack up the floor and tub.

three... Not for certain but I would say they would be about 9 inches too short.

There would be more reasons once you got into it.

Just leave are flatties alone on this one.

How about finding a '73 or earlier CJ? I think that a CJ front can be made to work.

I already have the flat fender front clip (hood, fenders and grill).
Already have two 47 and 46 titles.

Hell, the YJ isn't really much wrangler left either. Thought I might throw the two together.

So share the titles! :flipoff2: You don't need all of them. :skull:

So the reason that you want to do it is because you put an older engine in a new jeep which isn't legal in CA and you want to register it as an old flattie so that it will be legal. Good thought, just don't get caught. I made my own fenders, and you would probably be better off doing that too because flattie fenders and yj fenders are no where near alike. I'm sure you could do it, but why when you could probably start from scratch and make something that looks close a whole lot easier.

Acutally, I built the jeep from a CJ frame (boxed) and YJ body. Coil front suspension with SOA rear. Nothing on this thing is original. Chevy 350 with TH350 and Dana 300. D-44's front and rear. Changing the registration isn't really all that tough. I've been told it would be legal to title as a salvaged vehicle.

The easiest thing to do in your situation is to get yourself a cj7 title and body tag. Then you have it inspected and license it as that. If you dont have one sell something and buy one. the yj stuff fits on a cj 7 and that is all you have to tell them, or how about what everyone tells me, I didnt know I bought it this way. You will not pass a yj off as a flat fender to the inspectors, and if no physical inspection is required, then cj7 title and tag and go to town.

Not going to work. Have to be prior to 73 to avoid any type of Smog. CJ-7 starts at 76.

My point: This rig really isn't a YJ folks. I started to look at the purpose built title laws, but it's a royal pain in the ass.
