Since I can't do a search I am just going to ask. Does anyone have an FJ40 with OD and 3.7 gears? How does it drive? What tires size do you have and what are your RPMs?

I built one for a customer with this combo.......worked great 33" tires and I have no idea as to RPM's no tach.

I broke one of fine splines, so I picked up a set of 3.7 for very cheap. Could not find a of fine spline 4.11s diff, so I thought I would give these a try.

I also was able to pull a set of anti-inversion shackles off a FJ60 with grease-able bolts in the pick and pull junkyard. Was not able to get the bolts on the other end as they won't let you bring a jack in. So I left them. Good score since they did not charge me for them.

I have 4.88 with a nv4500 in my 40. It has had 35's, 37's, 38 sx's. 37mrts were the best comb.

My DD fj60 is LT1 nv4500, with 3.7 stock gears on 35mtr's. It is ok. You need 1st gear unless you are starting out on a downhill slope. 5th gear is kinda tall. It cruises nice at 70+mph. 33" tires would be better. I have 1 fine spline 4.11 third member, and 4 4.88 thirds. I will be putting the 4.88's in unless I can find a clean 4.11 finespline cheap. If I go with 4.11, I will put 33x10.50 bfg's on when the 35's are worn out. My truck has full travle with 35's after lots of body mods, but 33's on stock wheels would look and ride better. I would like 16" wheels so I could get load range E tires. My 60 is heavy.

It would be an ok setup in a light 40 with a v8, and 33's. I have about 5kmiles on nmy 60 this way so it does work, but could be better.

I have been looking for a good 4.11 Fine Spline too. Just hard to find them cheap. I have a 350 that is mildly built, but I am planning on boring and stroke when I put the NV4500 behind it. Well if I find the 4.11 maybe I will stick them on my right hand drive '67 with an SM420.

Rears out of 80 series. They are 4.10s. Find a pair and you are set. Lots of 80 guys are dumping their 4.10s for 4.56/4.88s and even some go to 5.29s. I know of a complete fullfloat unlocked 80 rear third FS in Idaho. It would make a great front in a 40 or 60.
