Napa part # ep26

You need a no load flasher

I had the same problem on a 2001 TJ. I installed an EP-27 flasher, designed for use with 2-6 LEDs and it did not cure the problem. The EP-27 flasher has a five pin connector, the same as the 2001 TJ, whereas the EP-26 uses a different 4 pin style. The EP-27 flasher caused the hazard lights to work correctly, but when the turn signals were used, it created a short through the flasher, and will blow a fuse if not immediately turned off. Although the resistor idea is lame, it does fix the problem and with the proper resistor mounted in a heat sink, heat is not an issue. The modification to the stock flasher may work, but the layout of the circuit board (in the pic posted by Haole in a previous link) is different than the one in my flasher. There are heavy duty electronic flashers available from Jeep/Chrysler that are supposed to fix the problem, but I have yet to try one.
