So I'm looking into new headlamps, and don't want to go with the full H4/wiring loom setup, due to PITA factor and cost.

Don't want to just drop in Hella Vision Plus - used them before and didn't feel they made much difference considering their price.

So I'm looking at these Truck-Lite headlamps. Curious if anyone's had any experience?

you would get better response in the Gen4x4 section.

I have a pair of those on my D90 after killing multiple sets of other bulbs due to rocks and water crossings. They're great lights, put out a good visible pattern, and seem to be super durable. They include an adapter to mate to the plug on your D90 so the install is simple. I'll definitely be putting a set of these on my D110 when I kill the lights it has now.

Check out Gulf Coast Rovers (http://www.gulfcoastrovers.com) . They have them for a pretty good price.

Yes, fishbowls are annoying.. as are the mud bowls I usually get.

However, the further annoyance is when that fish/mud bowl cracks or shatters due to hot light hitting cold water/mud. So.. in the interest of keeping the glass shards out of my sushi/mudpack, I decided to give the plastic lights a try.

And.. amazingly enough, no shatter! WooHoo!!!

Also - check with your local truck repair/supply places. I found them for $58.00 and (obviously) no shipping from GCR. Truck-lite seems to be a commonly carried brand.

Yeah I know I could pick them up from GCR - maybe even swing by when I'm in Houston next month...I'm more wondering how they perform, how much better is light output/pattern than the standard lamps? They claim that the lamps have atmospheric equilization so they don't get all misty - does this work?

Also, I know they use a simple halogen bulb, which is great, but does it operate as a 55W light?

Basically looking for experiences with the lights to know if they are worth it.

From what I can tell, these lights are at least as good as my eurospec H4s that I was running before. I never did put in the 130w/85w bulbs, but the regular ones were fine since the lenses were set up well. It seems to me that these truck-lites put out a good functional pattern and don't blind other drivers. They do not have the super sharp cutoff that the eurospec lenses had, but I don't miss it at all.

These things are definitely worth the price in my book.
