I am taking my hard top off for the first time and I will be doing it in sections. Lame newbie question . . . I have the 3 rear doors, not ambi doors. With the top glass swing up section, is it only attached to the rest of the hard top with the two upper bolts on each side (not including the bottome of the lift shocks) or am I missing one that I can't see. The damn heat here makes it hard to spend lots of time in the garage figuring stuff out so thought someone can chime in.
Thanks, Dan

That rear hatch header thing is bolted to the top with 4 or more bolts that go through the inside of the gutter into it, as well as the two gusset pieces which bolt to the sides..

You can basically expect that the same ratio of roof panel to side panel bolts that snapped off when you detached that will also SNAP off when you try to separate the hatch header from the side panels.
Which is another way of saying DON'T MESS WITH IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO REBUILD THE WHOLE F#$ING THING FROM SCRATCH!

Well I tried the ratchet straps. 4 hook anchors in the ceiling rafters and 4 straps. worked like a champ. thanks for the suggestion. I am now topeless. just have to figure out how to slowly release the straps when i am ready to put the top back on. thanks again.
