Was discussing with a CruiserHead about swapping the "guts" from my '74 axle into my '66 housing, and he wasn't quite sure. Planning to do an SOA and was going to clean up the 66 axle housing as it's in far better shape (rust) than my 74 axle assy.
Is this a direct swap? If so what should I look for as in tollerances, wear spots, etc? Is this something "I" should be doing as I've never done this before? Any good information appreciated. Thanks

Is it a front or rear axle? Front wouldn't work. Pre 1968 front axles used a ball/claw axle instead of birfields. AFAIK, you can't use birfs in the older housings.

Sorry I forgot to mention that. That was the thought initially but thought that someone may have had another way to do the same thing. Thanks for the cofirmation!
