i am asking this question for my friend so i hope i don't butcher it.
He wants to know if there is a cv joint small enough to fit over the automatic tranny housing (727/300 t-case). The front axle has been cut and turned with the pinion turned up, but that was to fit on a wide box tranny and did not need a cv for the driveshaft, he wants to swap the front axle out from that one into his, but doesn't know if he can run a cv with the pinion turned up and make it fit over the tranny housing?

If your question is

Does a cv fit on the 300 with an auto?

Then the answer is YES… with a little grinding

yeah thats what i meant, Will the cv joint fit on a 300 with an auto, but the front axle pinion was turned up so that it could fit a manual w/o a cv, will this axle still work with the cv on the auto/300?

The reason you turn the pinion up in the first place is so that you CAN run a cv joint. If you are not running a cv shaft, the pinion shaft and t-case output shaft should be equal but opposite angles.

In order clear the auto tranny housing with the CV, you have to grind some of the housing off.
