I am going to be removing my gas tank and putting a cell in the rear of the jeep. I was considering inboarding my rear springs, does anyone have any pics of how they did this, mounting pics. worrried about the strength issues of welding to just the side of the frame.
I was thinking about running two tubes about 5 inches apart from each other from frame rail to frame rail, then mounting the hangers on those, but the drive shaft will be in the way, so i really can't run anything across from frame rail to frame rail. What should I do?
i would like to get the rear springs as close as possible, will this cause any problems that i should know about?
The only thing i can think of is leaning on of camber stuff, will this effect that at all?

If you bring the springs in too close you will get awesome flex but on the downside you will loose a lot of stability as the body will tend to shift dramatically in off camber situations.
Could you box the hangers top and bottom to the frame by actually using the section of frame with the hangers from a junked jeep? Then just use plate top and bottom and stich weld all the edges should be strong as.

i've done it to my sammy. It doesn't cause an problems; it is still wider than the front. Don't know how to do it on a jeep because ( i believe )it is not a boxed frame unless it is a mail jeep.

This is what I am planing to do on a YJ. It not only moves the spring inboard for a little more flex, it also moves the spring up so you don't get hung up on it.
I don't think the body lean will be that much of an issue. The back it already much lighter than the front with a lower CG. You will lose some lift with this though.

I'm running allpro rears with 1 leaf removed inboarded 4.5" on each side. They flex great and the body roll is not too bad. Right now, with my rear toys in the front I've got 50/50 flex front/rear. My toys 84" tall and 84" wide, but I started taking my body lift out tonight so I think at 81/84 I'll still have the good flex and the lower COG should help out a lot with any body roll.

Rockbound, Do you have alot more room for the tires to compress? If you tires already stuff into the fenders than i
would just run a softer spring in the rear with a traction bar
set up.

hey convertiyota, are you going to go ahead with the drivetrain lift with no body lift?

not sure do not have the tires on yet, was going to do this while i was swapping in the hpd60's. don't want to do it twice. I figured while i was setting up the axles i would inboard the rear springs.

CJ hey do you have extra room inside your jeep? where did you find it I had to build my own tank so I could save some of my room! Well my tanks hold 16.4 gallons and I still have a gas guage! let me know I could make you atank... I did not check on a call what do they cost???
oh yeah
My tank is made out os 1/8 316 stainless steel..
I have seen this done that you are speaking of there is a jeep in my garage right now that has it on! (inboard spring) it works good on his!
