If you are talking bobbing the bed (cutting off just the rear), then yes it's been done. If you are wanting to shorten both ends to put a long bed on a short bed truck, you would be better off getting a real short bed.

Other way around... Longbed to Shortbed. I figure can't be tooo difficult. Well the idea isn't hard, but the actual work will be harder.

Take bed off, cut to proper length, reweld new spring perches and bed mounts (if needed), throw on short bed with shorter drive shaft... bodda-bing bodda-boom hehe

People do it all the time with the old chevy crew cabs since they didn't make a crew cab short bed then. There are several build threads on here.

just google what you're lookin for and add pirate4x4 to it. That's what I do.
