Now before everyone starts saying USE THE SEARCH, I have. :flipoff2: But for the life of me could not find what I am looking for. I found great advice on the difference between jonny joints and rod ends, but would like to know what would be better to use material wise.
It is going to be for longs arms on an XJ, just so you know.
I have excess to either solid round stock 3/4" to 4" or I can get square tubing 1" to 4" with either 3/16 to 1/4 wall.
Im also not sure if they make solid round stock different as far as strenth goes.
Thanks

I would stay away from the solid stuff, it tends to bend easier than heavy wall tubing, although if you use 4 inch I don't think It will bend and it would lower your cg!
I'm with 9-volt, buy the right stuff the first time, keep the free stuff for something else.

Thanks guys,
Actually, whats better than the .250 wall DOM is the Rock Rod stuff from Rockstomper!!!!!! Give Scott a call with your measurements, I bet he would make you some up!!!!
Rock Rod material is doubelwall DOM. Here is an quote from his site: "Rock Rods are constructed from 1.25" 0.219 DOM steel tube. An optional sleeve of 1.5" 0.120 DOM is then slid over top and full-circle MIG welded at both ends for even more strength."
Here is a link to the Rockstomper page with Scotts # if you are interested:

I have a rock rod on my fullsize Blazer and I had the Rock Rod hold up the weight of the front of my blazer and it did no bend!
i agree get the right stuff. DOM can usually be "ordered" from any good steel supplier.
