I currently have them mounted with the plastic straps thru the radiator. This isn't going to work anymore.

How have you mounted your tranny coolers or ps coolers? Weld in mounts and bolt in area where condenser *used* to be? Use wire strapping?

Please post pics or describe how you mounted these items without attaching to the radiator directly.

Thanks,

I run a piece of angle under the aux cooler in front of the radiator, for it to sit on.

I then use another piece of flat strap across the middle face of the aux cooler and bolt it to either side of the core support to keep it in place.

Works well on my trail rig and race rig.

The p/s cooler on the trail rig is actually just zip-tied to some plumber's tape from years ago..

I think it's still that way.

back when i had inner fenders, I cut a hole all the way through the inner fender and then bolted the cooler to the fender. mine had a fan, but if you didn't have a fan you could create some ducting to get some airflow

just mount it anywhere you have room out of the way with a small fan on it

Make sure it's protected. We mounted ours to the firewall with a fan blowing into the passenger compartment. It was our hope to use it as a makeshift heater. However when we rolled in Goldedale last year it caved in the fender, inner and outer, almost crushing the cooler. It will be replocated to a more protected location in the future.

Pics of my mount.

Cut the grill out of the 73 to make the SSII grille work. Gave lots more room to work with for mounting the fan, tranny and PS coolers.

I used 1.5" wide aluminum strap for the top brace and .5" for the lower. Radiator snugs up to the straps for strength. I had to space the rad. back with a few washers for clearance. Pic:

This is a pic thru the passenger side opening of the SSII grill. HTH for later searchers.....
