so my one buddie has 2 amigo's ones a 88 the other is a 89, the 89's frame is rusted that bad you can put your finger thru it in some spots, the 88 is a donor one that he has been useing for parts, the body is trash on it, frame is perfect, would this be a easy swap to put the 88 frame under the 89 body? and what kind of work is involved. i have never ownd a amigo and know nothing about it, but we just did a clutch in it and thats when we noticed all the rust, also since we put in the new clutch is seems the tranny is whining, what could that be?

Well depends on what you have access to. If you have a shop with a lift/hoist then its relatively easy.

After I put a clutch in mine, it whined. Only because the input shaft in my tranny is worn a bit.

well we have the next best thing, a large tree above the work area, so we use that to lift the bodies, i recently did a jeep body for another friend with it, im just more concernd about the mounts matching up, i dont feel like hassling with welding new ones on

88 and 89 should match up perfectly.

Yay for big trees lol.

Amigos = 1989-1994

The 1988 doesn't exist.

That said if they are both the same body style and both are either 2wd or 4wd, they should swap just fine.

Check to see that both have disk brakes in the back too.

hrmm guess its not a 88 then, but yes they both are 4x4 same stle body, and have disk breaks, everything looks about the same, just i noticed the wiring harnesses are different between the 2, noticed this when we had toi do some rewiring in it and tried useing the others harness
