I want to improve my cooling with two el. Fans ( 2 BMW Fans 15" selfmade like fex-a-lite dual fans), whats better, to put them behind or infront of the radiator. I am just at work, may be you can help. Whats your experience ?

Info: I want to remove the mechanical and want to put the el fans behind.

You see my axles are the only project I have !

I have never seen a OEM fan what could be reversed. So If they were installed in the BMW as pusher fans you have no choice with the install.

The fans are very small, from BMW 740 air condition front fans,
I plan to build them in a shroud with the same size as the radiator(16,5 to 32,5 ") and put them behind, but if I woould have the same effects infront of the radiator, I dont have to build the shroud and its easier to set them infront.

1) GOOD idea.

2) BMW fans are good strong fans - good choise.

3) you don't have an option - if they are pulling fans,
you HAVE to mount them behind the radiator and
if they are pushing, you have to put them in front.

4) get rid of the mechanical fan and the fan clutch - this
will improve cooling and add some hp to your motor.

5) use the right relays - beware of smaller amp relays
which will burm out often and put your motor at risk.

6) make SURE that one fan is switch operated and the
second is manually or temp unit operated.

7) use a thermostat in your motor.

ththththththat's it folks.....:D :D

good luck
