Extreme Outback has a belt-driven compressor now. It looks like a regular ole Sanden compressor, but it has a zerk fitting on the oil plug and requires no oiling.

Anybody know about this or what other changes there are? Could one avoid the whole oiling issue by just puting a zerk in a regular Sanden and pumping it full of grease? Where would it come out when you're pumping it in? Past the pistons and through the outlet? Would grease truly lubricate the compressor like it needs?
thanks

Bringing this one back.....
Has anyone seen one of these Endless Air setups in person? I would really like to know how they are lubed. I need a Sanden compressor for onboard-air, but I don't want the "sanden" oil problems. Could the fix be as simple as a Zerk in the fill plug? Where would all of the grease go?
Thanks,
Tom

Got this from 4x4groupbuy.com
The ExtremeAire is permanently lubed with sealed bearings so it can be mounted in any position making installation much easier. Every ExtremeAire utilizes stainless steel fasteners Loctited for a long and trouble free life in the highest vibration applications.

So what if the bearings are perm. lubed. The compressor has to have some type of piston or other compression method to compress the air. This means a tight fit with some metal on metal contact, if you dont have some lubrication its gonna lock up. I cant see greasing it working. If the inside of the sanderson is anything like the GM pancake (I killed 3 of em before going your, even using an oiler) I cant see it lasting for long.

Sandens are 5 or 7 piston wobble plate compressors. Grease could work if it is used to lubricate thewobble plate and bottom end components.
Since I have not opened one up, I do not know what the seals on the piston ring are made of. I do not think they are simply a metal alloy. I have seen synthetic piston rings in 3000 psig DR compressors that survived some plenty hot temperatures. I have had several sanden or sanyo AC units and never had a problem, but thos were of course lubricated by the oil in the refrigerant.

I have been using there larger 100% duty cycle pump for my ARB's, onboard air......It kicks ass!
