To explain my situation:

I have a 93 XJ, 2,1TD (95hp), 31x11,5, D30, D35, I have a D35(cklip) 4,56, traklok rear, and pars for a D35 (non cklip) in my garage (housing, shafts, 4,56 gears, and disc brakes),

And I want to buld the noncklip axle with full detroit, and my question is clear and obvious :) will it hold? I dont wheel very hard, In last year I broke only 1 U-joint (D30) :) but I dont want to have any issues with the axle.

It is my DD and an occasional offroader.

I also have an 8.8 (1999 EXP), but I would have to buy new gears, and brackets kit, as I am not able to manufacture them. A have a shop weld them ....

I wheeled on a D35 w/detroit & 35s for approx. 2 years before it broke. You can do it, but it WILL break eventually. Take the money it will cost you to buy the detroit and use it for the 8.8. I'll bet the cost is nearly the same and you will have a stronger rear.

The only difference between the D35C and D35 you want to build is not IF, but WHEN a shaft breaks, the whole axle won't come out. If you already have an 8.8, spend the same amount of money on a detroit for the 8.8 and put that under there. Your XJ is leaf rear and swapping in the 8.8 doesn't get any easier than that. Grind/cut off the old brackets and get new shock mounts and leaf perches welded up(by you or a shop) and wheel it. Even with new gears and new mounts, you're gonna be around $500 more into the 8.8 than a D35, but you won't have to worry about it.

I say don't waste your $$ on the 35.. put in to the 8.8 you won't regret it.
