Speak up, off-road enthusiasts

Adam Litke

In response to the Greenhorn Creek problem. I will admit that Greenhorn Creek is not the most sanitary place to play, but let's be reasonable. I will admit that I am one of the people who enjoys taking my truck down there and having a little off road fun.

We've heard from people in favor of closing Greenhorn to four-wheel-drive vehicles. I ask, why? Instead of worrying about a dirty creek bed, try tackling a more logical problem like getting the drugs out of our schools, for example. Why are people trying to take away one of the only places we have to enjoy the activity of off-roading from us? It's not like we don't realize the mess that we make down there doesn't exist. Local businesses are also doing their part to keep it clean. The off-road store Sierra Express held a local Greenhorn cleanup just a week ago. So for people to say that we do not care about the property is a false statement. So I ask everyone who enjoys the activity of off-roading to please speak up before we lose a very fun place to play.

I am a Local to Grass Valley, Greenhorn was the starting place for me and my four wheeling. I helped out at the cleanup and I know we made a major difference. Seeing those loads of garbage being hauled out made me angry because that this is being blamed on us a 4 wheelers. It's not our fault...the problem people are all the highschool kids throwing parties in the river bed because there is no where else to go. I know this because I used to be one of them. Every weekend it seemed like there were at least 2 or 3 major parties down there. It's the only place teens have to go to socialize and drink beer. Yet when the blame needs to be put on someone, the finger is automatically pointed at us because we are the ones most often seen down there driving around in our rigs or even on quads and motorcycles. Its wrong and the only way to prove that its not us is by us doing these cleanups. It proves we care about our sport and the land we use enough to cleanup after everyone else. Greenhorn is great place for beginners and even the more advanced wheelers. We just need to get it through to everyone that we respect it and will do whatever it takes to keep it open for us to use.

By the way its Sierra Extreme not Sierra Express. They weren't the only ones to put this on. J & J Motorsports and 4x4 labs were part of it too! :shaking:
