I have a 1999 Nissan 2800 4X4 pickup in Uruguay assembled in Mexico that has a KA24E engine that consumes gas like its free. The best I get is about 8mpg driving easy and on short trips it is horrible on gas. I have no equipment there to do any diagnosis on my own. The Nissan dealer in Uruguay is trying to tell me that the consumption is normal and there is nothing wrong with the truck. Any ideas as to how to attack this problem short of selling the truck and getting a diesel is greatly appreciated. I was thinking of taking an ECU, MAF and oxygen sensor from a 1989 240sx and start blindly changing parts.
I also have no way to find the correct parts for the truck.

I would think 02 sensor or MAF, do you get a check engine light at all? Have you tried any fuel system treatments, like an injector cleaner? That is deffinately way low mileage for that motor, but on a 99 it will be hard to diagnose without a code reader.

No the check engine light is not on. Tried injection cleaner and no difference.

The numbers from a gas analyzer test at idle are as follows. There was another set of data at higher rpm but I do not have the numbers.
RPM: 780
CO: 1.56%
CO2: 12.7%
HC: 123PPM
O2: 0.4%
Can anyone please look at the data in light of very poor fuel economy? And recommend where to look?
Thanks
