Hey Guys, I have been doing a lot of work on this truck. I bought these tires BF Goodrich 33-12.5 15's on FEB 22 and had them mounted on the 24th. It was only test driven for most of the time since then, a few miles at a time once or twice a week. Then about two months ago I started taking longer trips of about 25 miles or so round trip to my shop and back. Last week it became my daily driver. I only have 428 miles on these tires (replaced speedometer at same time as tires). I got out to check tire pressure today and look at what I found on the front-right tire. The tread looks broke on the side all around the perifery of the tire.(See the line on the tire). The tread is coming off in chunks. The other three tires look like new. Still have the little nubbins on them, and the truck doesn't pull so I dont think the allignment is the issue. And I have only been on streets no off road use. I think it may be a defective tire. Anyone else have this problem before?

Not on street tires. I had a drive tire on my work truck (International 9400i) start to come apart, but it was a retread. That tire only had a couple hundred miles on it as well.
Excessive heat caused by underinflation can cause tires to separate. I think you should go back to the dealer with it.

Doesn't look like a manufacturing defect but more like a razor/sheet metal cut.
Could have been done by anyone along the line from BFG to you.
I would see if the store would replace it. The only problem would be pushing the issue that you didn't cause the problem with sheet metal rub or the guy that mounted them.

I had something similar to that happen a two winters ago. I bought a new set of 35 bfg all terrains in december. I drove home 12 miles and parked my scout in the driveway. Two weeks later it snowed three feet of snow and I went to take it out and :nuke: my rear 44. I pulled it into the garage and let it sit for two months. After I got the rear end rebuilt the dude that did the work said look at you tires they are fawked up. I looked at them and they had cracks all over in between the tread. You could see the plys below the rubber. This was on three of four tires. I took my rig back to the tire shop were I bought them. He Knew who I was as I used to by all my tires from him. I could not find my receipt so he said :flipoff2: "how do I know if you did not do that". My tires had 35-40 miles on them. Only wheeling was the 30 foot run in the snow. I am not saying all bfgs are bad. But I am running toyos bought from a different vendor now.
