nice Huh? I took that pic up on Guardrail at Tellico.

and for my last question which has to do with D44 Carriers.....

if you go to the following link and go down to the First reply the first link states.

" The only difference between RC and Standard Cut diffs are the gears, not the carriers"

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20033&highlight=D44+Carriers

I never thought this was true I have always been under the impression that High Pinion/Reverse Rotation/Reverse Cut were all the same and had a different carrier than the Standard Cut/ Standard Rotation.

A carrier is a carrier only difference is some are "taller" or "shorter" (for lack of a better term) "Shorter" ones are for the lower gears since the gears are thicker it requires a "shorter" carrier. The gears are what determines the rotation not the carrier..........Yea like I said earlier "nice" cage:rolleyes::flipoff2:

edit:

Now that I read that thread again here is another tidbit of info....The deal on that 60 was that some gear manufactures (Precision in this case) made those gears to work with the taller carrier i.e. 4.10 and numerically higher carrier. I actually had to buy a different locker to correct the problem. Meaning I had a 4.56 and numerically higher Detroit and had to get a 4.10 and numerically lower Detroit for the gears I had to work. Don't know if this a common occurence or not but it was the case in these paticular gears I had. Never had it happen since and I have regeared about 5 different Dana axles and not ran into this problem (been using US Gear since too though)
