I'm sick of searching page after page, and I'm sure everyone else is too. So if you got pics of your 4-link rear please post up. It would be nice to just have a single topic commited to 4-link pics.

:D That's pretty much what we said. Once that truss came together it was looking real :smokin: so we where trying to get it to the rolling stage to roll it out of the garage. That consists of welding the front lower mounts to the frame. Too bad the jeep fell off the hilift when we where relocating the jackstands.... Tomorrow is another day. :cool2:

How did you tap your heims into those links?
I always liked using square tubing rather then round.

It's 1" B7 grade allthread with 1" square nuts. The nuts are DAMN close to fitting perfectly into the square tube. I used the same method on my XJ's traction bar. I just ground the square nuts down a hair and beat them in the tube with a mini sledge.
Here's some pics.
This is two nuts welded together then ground smooth.

Pounded into the tube and fluxcored in place. :smokin:

1.25x.120 DOM to sleeve the allthread and give me a little more weld area to mount to the poly bushing... PhillyZJ used another square nut and milled a radius on his.

No problems yet and i've beat it pretty good. :D

Heres what I did on the rear of the Willys.
Nothing fancy but it works. Lowers got a rubber bushing at the axle and a Mad4X4 "RE" joint at the frame. Heim joints on the uppers.

A few more pics of PhillyZJ's... We just buttoned up the rear and moved to the front. Just needs some adjustments via the links and he'll be good to go.

Links that I built... 1 1/4" Grade 8 all thread and 2" square tube for long arms... (I ALMOST used 1" grade 8 but it sure looked too small),
hence the 1 1/4" used

I notice that some builders have their LCAs coming straight back from the frame rails and some triangulate them to the center of the vehicle. The only other difference that I can see is that some use bushings and others use heims. I was trying to figure out the difference between the 2 styles and the only thing I could figure out was that the bushings would limit flex with the straight LCAs, so builders triangulate them, whereas heims would allow more flex and therefore could be used with straight LCAs. Am I mis-understanding the differences in the concepts?

From my understanding, the straight lowers allow for flex steer, but would be easier to build (no crossmember) and slide over rocks a little better. Triangulating the lowers helps reduce the flex steer but requires a crossmember to be built.
The uppers are 'generally' always triangulated to keep the axle from moving side to side.
