: Wire size for winch

I recently purchased a Warn M8000. Instead of hard-mounting it, I made a winch tray and put receiver points on the front and rear of my truck so I can use it on either end (its not always best to pull yourself further forward). The wiring on the winch reaches the battery from the front receiver; but I need to be able to use it on the back as well. I already have 2 awg wiring (not 2/0) running to the back from way-back-when in my car audio days. Total span is about 14ft. Will this be enough to support the power needs of the winch; or do I need to buy/run all new, thicker wiring?

You need heavier wire than 2 AWG to run to the back of your rig. I'd say at least 2/0.

0/1 wire IMO. I also got a great deal on ebay, came out to 1.5 a foot or so. Came with my text printed on the sheith too:D !

I went to the welding supply store and got some welder lead wire, not sure of the size but it's been working great for years.
