Tried search, but nothing of any help was there.

Trying to figure out what I need in terms of displacement for a Danfoss steering unit.

Choices are (in cubic inches):

3.0
4.8
6.0
7.6
9.7

For those running this unit (or those in the know) what are you using or would you use? I'll be running a stock Ford PS pump for the time being.

Also, does anyone have any pics of their steering shaft hooked up to the steering unit?

Thanks.:usa:

it depends on the size of your ram, for instance, with the 2.5" by 8" ram I'm going to use I'm planning on using a 9.7 cubic inch/revolution char-lynn valve, which will give me 3.4 turns lock to lock. You need to figure the volume of the cylinder ((radius of bore x radius of bore x pi) - (radius of piston rod x radius of piston rod x pi) x length of cylinder) and divide that by the number of turns you want to have lock to lock, this will give you what your valve displacement needs to be.

2"x8" ram.

This puts me approximately around 5 CUI with a 3.4 rev. to lock.

That 4.8 CUI looks about right then.

Thanks for the help!

that should put you at about 4 turns lock to lock, which is right about perfect, I wanted to be in the same area, but couldn't find a valve to do anything between my 3.4 turns, and over 6 turns...so I went for the fast steering.
