Steve is saying ~Larry "THOUGHT" his family jules were THIIIIIS big! http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c114/lrfrew/ZUKIEMELT06/rolledZukatcamp.jpgHad a GRATE time but did kinda destroy the body on my Tin Top. Did a complete ROLL over on to the top down by the pond right bellow the house. Was trying to go up the ledge and Fell right off the rock and flipped upside down squishing the top right down to the steering wheel. I do have a roll bar in it so that kept it off my Head. Was still running and had to turn the key to get it off. Every on pitched in to get me out, un jammed my seat belt and grabbed me by the legs and hauled me out !! was a little shaken up from the LANDING and hanging UP-side down (not a good position for an old fat man to be in)and got a skinned arm but was other wise ok.
Every one helped flip the Zuk back on all fours and after checking out the motor to make shure it was ok we fired it up and it started with no problem!! Tim ,Steve Norm and another fellow jumped up on the Zuk and managed to pull the window frame up far enough so I could see and after Lisa did some VERY wonderful and entertaining :smokin: first aid on my bleeding arm we took off back to camp. Managed get a little more wheeling in after that then Headed for home Sunday!!! Gotta get out the Hammers and go to work on the Zuk or get another body for it.!!!!!
I had my cam corder strapped to my hood and got the roll over from the inside and Steve had his going and got it from the out side. We will get a clip up some time in the future but I will be leaving for parts unknown in the morning and Steve has a lot of catching up to do at work as well so we'll get it don when we can!! It IS a CLIP WORTH WAITING FOR!!!!!!:D

Glad to hear your OK.....no rolls or tail stands this year for me!
Had a great time and got to whel with a great bunch of guys from Texas. My only carnage was a rear shock, front D-shaft and T-case arm. Most of that came from the last day (except for the shock, poped that getting off the trailer....lol).

What color was your zuk Larry? This year was my first year and I had a blast in my stocker. Met up with some guys from Ohio after they pulled me out from being stuck on a hill against a tree near the dunes where that crappy sandy peagravel crap was. After that I hung around them for the rest of the melt goin on a few trails, playin in the creek and the tunnels and then gettin in their rigs and goin through the orange trails. I had a great time but hopefully next year I will have my spoa done and tires and maybe if I'm really lucky transfer case regeared.

I was there Thurs and Fri. I looked for your rig purevil never saw you . Every year I go it seems like I hardly ever see anybody out on the trails everyone must stay in the quarry . My buddy I was wheelin with hydro locked his jeep on Thursday so me and my wife just wheeled till noon on Friday and came home . I had planned on coming back on Sat. but I lost a trailer wheel on the way home Fri. and I am still looking for a new wheel seems I have a rare size wheel if it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any . Yea, we spent a lot of time down in the quarries and on the orange trails. Followed the Texas guys around some as well. If you saw the big ol chopped up bus parked in the Family Campgrounds, that was us!
Hope ya get your trailer fixed OK. We're having a run over at Haspin the end of Aug, you'll have to come wheel with us then.

Yeah...cage stuff ought to be high on the priority list of things to get done, imo. In fact, I wouldn't let my boys ride in mine till I got the cage done....They were not happy that we missed a few rides, but I wasn't taking any chances.

After seeing some other people's rigs after a roll, I am glad to have mine in. That said, I am planning on a few mods to make mine a little better.

Why feel odd? We wheel with everyone & anybody, big rigs small rigs, it doesn't matter.

I just feel odd around bigger trucks. I feel like I hold them up somtimes on the trails. It's probly cuz around here everyone has jacked up trucks with huge boggers and they think it's the only way to go and my truck being foreign and a small engine and small tires they underestimate it and then I usually show them up and then don't want to be seen around me cuz my truck can go through more and not get stuck as much lol I dunno what it is....as far as the MC goes...I shouldn't need it I jb welded the hell outta mine and it seems to work fine. thanks a ton though. I can't wait till next years melt. I will probly go to the badlands before the next one just to test my spoa and tires when I get them done.

Im the same way. I have to drive my junk to and fro. Sucks butt but I can't afford a truck until I pay off my credit cards. Im only 2 hours away though so if I break I can generally fix it enough to get home. If not then a tow truck will get me home. I can't wait until I get a trailer and a truck though.

If it were me, I'd run at least a 31" tire. 30" at the smallest. But thats just me!

And I think the gas prices kept a lot of people away this year. Course, the way things are going, it'll be just as expensive next year! Wonder why the gubberment dosen't OK a cost of living raise for everyone so we can all afford to attend the melt....lol

I run 29' super swampers and they work but I have run into some situations were a bigger tire would allow me to get over some opsticles. I am going to move to 31" or 33" Maxxis Bighorns in Dec.(Mom works for them and she get a discount):flipoff2:

I agree Zukimelt 06 was great. The first day was bad for me. My Spring mounts broke about an hour in the trails on Thursday. My whole axle rotated 180 degrees slaming my front dif into my new sky z link. So had to reweld the perches at camp later that night. Wheels fine but now I have develpoed the "death wobble". I did win a clutch fan eleminator from Petroworks at the raffle. Can't wait for next year.

You have the perches welded slightly off allowing the rear of the axle to tip up too much more than likely.(technical term is caster is off)

I don't like degree schims, but you might try them to see if the DW goes away. If it does, then you know what the problem is.

Also, I would recommend boxing the perches in and welding them up solid. That usually takes care of problems with the perches bending, folding, or even breaking off.

Later!

We boxed them in with straps of steel at the camp site. The SPOA was already done when I bought it, and this was the first problem I had. I will check the caster, I can use the alignment rack at work. If so I will take out the axle and reweld the perches. Thanks
