This is a 61 80 with the front crossmember relocated.

that is exactly what I am looking for, thanks! Did you just space it from the frame with pipe and make your own mounting there? I see your drag link is on TOP, interesting..

If I remember, it was a 3/8" plate, with some spacers made out of round stock to make up the difference in heights for the mounting ears. Plate welded to frame, with a small triangle gusset on the bottom. Frame sleeved for the top two holes. You can see the plate, spacers & gusset in this crappy picture. Draglink ended up on top because that is where it worked out the best, since the box is mounted pretty low to clear the bottom of the radiator.

I own the Scout now...So in the AM I will shoot some photos of it from some different directions so you can gather it all in...

It is a fullsize JEEP J truck box if I recall...

the box looks exactly like mine, that last pic helps but any would be appreciated. I think I will need to notch out my front crossmember.

I used the A-A frame plate, and relocated the front frame x-member. Built a stabilizer too, yeah I broke some mount bolts in the past.:flipoff2:

Make sure the two tie rods will not hit each other! Move the box further forwards to get plenty of clearance....

Pardon my ignorance, But is there any advantage to running the box inside the frame as opposed to outside the frame, such as a SII? I am about to start on mine in a couple weeks and was going to go outside the frame with a SII box.

the reason I want to do it I don't see above.. Spring interference. You can drop that pitman arm BELOW the spring if you want since you can make it so full turn is inside the leaf path or whatever..

That is what I did with my jeep and it worked great..

looking at my jeep pics it might not be the same on the scout - since the frame is so wide on the scout

ok, the reason I am using the inside the frame is ... cause I have one ;)

ok, looks like I should start with the plate and then play with position - scout254 how much was the frame plate (shouldn't be that tough to make but..)

EDIT:

Back from the past! What kind of steering box is being used here? I'm going to convert a Scout 800 to PS this summer and need to look for a box.

I used a PS box for a 1995 Chevy 2500 4x4, drop waggy pitman arm to clear the stock crossmember, and fits behind grille.

I have since removed the stock crossmember for an engine swap. Reworking the steering mount, so it will mount flatter, like HoS'

Not sure how I missed this the first time around...

I plated both sides of my frame rail (1/4" or 3/16"), then gusseted the crap out if.
*Note: this was my second welding project on my Scout. I did it using a 50 year AC stick welder (hence the booger welds). So far it has held up fine.

Ok i have a steering box off a 95 chevy with a flat wagoneer pitman arm not so worried about the mounting of the box. I'm pretty sure i know the answer but its one of those things where i keep second guessing myself. The truck i got the steering box out of was equipped with hydroboost. My question is that only one of the lines is high pressure? and if I am right I also beleive the high pressure line is the one towards the front of the box furthest from where the shaft from the column comes in. I must be working to hard because I feel like this is a dumb question but if someone could let me know that would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I'm not running hydroboost is why I am wondering.

Doesn't matter if it was hydroboost or not. There's two ports, one is high pressure (supply) the other is low pressure (return). If you get replacement hoses it's obvious which one is which.

On my PS box ('95 Chevy K2500) the front port is the high pressure side, the rear port is the return/low pressure side.
