When I swap to D60 rear and D44 front, changing the drive shafts, use stronger U-Joints, have allready a Chevy SB with TH700R4 installed, - is it now recommanded to swap the NV231 to a NP241, too. (are there some left sided) I think after I have done the swap , the transfer case will become my weakest part of all !

you will allways have a weakest point and so it should be(fuse).

what you have to try, is to have an "easy" to replace weakest point, meaning a u-joint, a hub etc.

the 231 will not be the weakest point although a 241 or better
yet a 241 H/D would be better. but "better" is a never ending
story with improving your rig.

if your having a D-44 then you're probably not going to run big
tires. if something will blow it's probably going to be u-joints,
front hubs(if you have any) and axleshafts.

Is it generally possible to swap from NV231 to NP241 or not ?

If you with high dollar shafts, and new 300M ujoints, I bet you'd have to at least go with the heavy duty slip yoke eliminator to keep the 231 from being the fuse, even then i'd be a little worried. I hope your right though, and it's strong enough to break good axle shafts or u-joints, cause I'm keeping mine for a while.
