still working on my buddy 79 Scout II...............he has a 345 with a Q-jet on it now.
the topic came up sat of swapping to Fuel injection....or maybe Propane........seems to me that a Chevy 350 TBI would be fairly easy.
i'm sure someone is running this set up and would like to share. :D
TIA

What the hell did you expect? There's two other IH boards with specific forums dedicated to fuel injection your IH motor. Maybe, just maybe check out the Binder Bulletin? Or maybe use Google? I know that's new technology and all, but it just might work for you!

What the hell do you think were telling you to search for?
On second thought..... eat shit. I'll think about you (and laugh) tonight when I start up my injected 345.

i always find it funny on this site that people go fucking ape shit when someone asks a question that you could search for.
typical responses "OMG YOU GOD DAMN NEWBIE" "you must be new to the internet"
yet yall are crying about something thats inevitable on a internet message board
WELCOME TO MESSAGE BOARDS!!! its going to happen as long as your here i promise
so calm down

Try asking on either of these boards, or read the FAQ's at affordable.

Yes. I have a TBI on my IH motor. It was easy.
Step 1: Bolt on TB
Step 2: Connect fuel
Step 3: Wire up wires
DONE!

Might be time to clean the sand out of your vag:rolleyes:
As far as TBI goes...dont do it. Its way hard work and not really worth it in the end. I'm sorry I ever tried it. Since I finished my 152 conversion I have done nothing but go places that only get me into trouble:laughing:

believe it or not this has actually been helpful. I have some good stuff to read. thanks to the guys that were helpful and thanks for the helpful PM's
we may have gotten off on the wrong foot here. I don't own a scout and don't know all the IH boards. this is the 1st i have really thought about this and i will probably end up doing the work on my buddy's rig.
just trying to be social.
sorry to have bothered you cranky beotches ............... at ease, now you can go back to rusting.
oh, and i am hardly a newbie

We have done several I.H. motors with great success. No wiring and trouble free for 10 to 20 years. And no wiring.:grinpimp:

I have a TBI 304 running 305 throttle body.
I used the DIY kit from AFI. It wasn't too bad, but I had some fuel tank issues (poor return line at first, plus aluminum foil "HEET" caps in the gas tank), but once those were resolved it went pretty well. Instead of having Norm make new chips for me to tweak it for my engine, I did that part myself.
..which is why the last bits I need to fuel inject my 345 should show up any day, though we'll see how quickly I get on that project, thanks to my new miniature project. ;)
In any case, I have a Camaro wiring harness, a few Camaro computers, one 7747 truck ECM as well. I have a chip burner and laptop and ALDL, and an eraser now.
I'm going to follow Bill's instructions (linked elsewhere earlier) to clean up the wiring harness, then throw the 350 TBI on top of my built 345 and finish things up.
I'll have to yank out the ProJection wiring harness I installed 6 or 7 years ago.. never did get the POS to work right - pulled the throttle body off and chucked it into the corner of the shop and put a 2bbl back on before RMIHR that year and never did get back to it.
So I already have the fuel lines run, the Holley pump, an O2 sensor installed, etc.. and I bought a couple of TBI adapter plates from BCB at the Binder Bash, plus I have a Rustoleum White TBI intake I could use, too - but I'll save that for a 454 TBI on my built 392, if I don't get talked into an IHOnly setup first.

funny because Propane was my 1st suggestion too him. mainly because i thought it would be cool to work on and set up.
as far as fuel plumbing, he return issues are already in place, rig is running an RCI fuel cell w/ provisions for EFI. that also leads to the next draw back on Propane - we just installed a new fuel cell. So it looks like TBI is the way we'll go.
i think the TBI was appealing to him because we could hit the junkyard, grab a TBI off a 350 for $35 and some other goodies and be well on aour way for $50.
here is the rig:

If you can grab systems for $35 from the JY I'll take a couple more!!!
I'll pay you $100 plus shipping.
Could use a couple 4cyl TB's also...:D Future projects!!!
I just can't seem to get to the junk yard like I used to....in the US!!

yeah i hear you, i am super ilimited on time. If i can make it once a month
i went on monday. problem i see is that guys usualy go around the yard and swipe the injectors our of the TBI. But, the c20 vans look like the hook up....for some reason guys don't want to get inside of a 100* van to pull a TBI
i could have gotten at least 4 monday. Guess the main thing is that the truck is finally out of the shop and runs now, and runs pretty well. So not a critical upgrade to get it on the trail........more of an inevitable progression for this thing.
on the "To Do" list

Go for the TBI. I stuck a Chevy 350 TBI on my 304 and a MS computer in the glovebox. The old carb is now a roach habitat in the corner of the garage...:D

Ditto. The same thing happens out here on the correct coast. Somehow they just walk right by the van and don't want to monkey with the dog house...
