went up and watched the EROCCS comp today in jellico. Most of those guys were fully GETTING it .. ken shaupe can flat drive. something tells me that 4.3L in his buggy didn't come straight out of mom's mini-van ! there was one pretty long/steep/loose climb. shaupe stopped and evidently lowered all the pressure in his tires a fair bit and then proceeded to GET IT with a -5 point run on that obstacle with the spotter riding

pics i took:

i meet tyty, rockjeep, patoyee, badassjeepguy had some bad luck with his rig with some equipment failure and saw bigdude in action spotting (and he lives up to his bigdude name) ... a good day

saw this sweet unimog buggy in action. had front/rear hydraulic steer that were some how automagically linked together. whenever he turned the steering wheel the front and rear wheels turned. looked neat not so sure how well it really worked.

unfortunately the guy did a backwards end over end double or triple roll and took the steering wheel just above the eye but below the helmet and got busted up pretty good. was ok, but left and went to the hospital then back home to wherever he came from i heard.

this guy had rockwells f&r and two 465's back to back and an np205 for something like a near 600 crawl ratio and a very healthy 350 the program says it's an s-10 ... maybe the frame.

I had a blast there! It was great weather and the guys really put on a show. However, I kinda wish there was a bit less standing around. Hopefully more rigs will compete in June. Definately worth the $10 a carload and the food was even cheap.

i agree ... ALOT of standing around. and i feel like i walked miles and miles and missed alot of the action cause i never could figure out where they were going to ride next after one group left an obstacle. good time though ...

Hey Brawler, it was listed as a S10, it had 120" wheelbase as well. That thing could crawl, but his width and wheelbase really hurt him on a couple obstacles.

we finished 10th. Probably could've done better but the cones were so tight I quit worrying about them halfway through the first day. We left before the awards, not sure who won.

that's cool toploader. i could tell when you tried to climb up the battleshop rock that winning wasn't necessarily your primary goal. :D sweet rig though man !

what he said, and we snapped a winch cable. The combination of the two, and the fact that a new plasma rope was $269 from someone there we decided to call it.

It was almost 90° when we left Jellico at 1pm, we stopped for fuel in Ohio around 6:30pm, and it was 40°. That was the worst part of the whole trip.

Great event, great obstacles, great competitors.

But, like they said, with only 21 rigs, they should have just run 2 groups, not 5. We only had 2 rigs in our group, and when we broke, the other guy was by himself.

daamn goood event..... but should of been 2 groups...... after all my shit on #4 and loosing my t case shifter...lol i got pissed and pulled a little to hard... :D and with no winch line.... i didnt make the next run #5, believeing that my t case would not stay in gear, well after i was out, and i pissed around, she seemed like she would of stayed in gear.... by this time it was too late points wise, fullthrottle had an xtra winch line i could of used... lookin back i wished i would of just threw his spare line on and went for it, just didnt realize it was only linkage issues with the t case........... slightly bummed but got to see some good shows.... got to meet a damn good group of people........... to all see yall in june i hope.....

a red toy did 5 rolls from the top of #5 without injury... it was pretty violent......

i can definately affirm the fact i want and will have a longer wheelbase in the future..... stock wrangler tooooo short for verticle climbs.... just a matter of time... :D ohh yeahh, jeep is going on a diet too....... :D

BAJG,

Did you have fun? :D

Then it was worth it
hmmm, I wonder if I should keep my old winch cable. I need a new one right now.

Just wanted to say that it was really cool to meet everybody (even Daless2 :D , he gave me a granola bar :) )

I had a blast and I think the event was pretty well organized for the 1st time. We had a rough day2 with breaking a control arm bolt, rear driveshaft, and 60 stub/locking hub on only 2 obstacles.

We ran the final day2 obstacle in 3wd because we didn't have enough breakdown time left to fix the stretched TJ. Good thing we did. Ended up holding onto 5th by 3 points over "full throttle" :flipoff2:

Here's the breakdown of the top 6 (all I can remember)
1) Shupe
2) Durham
3) Cruiser Buggy (blue and silver from morpheus pics)
4) KYoffroad YJ buggy (grey w/ black cage)
5)Buddy and Myself
6)Full Throttle

BAJG left to early. He won the show & shine award (seriously :flipoff2: ) Shupe won best engineered.

We were very happy w/ our performance because it was our 1st competition and we only came in behind the pro's.

Watch out for the guy with the blue/silver cruiser buggy. Durham just built that for him not to long ago and once he gets a little more seat time I like his chances out west with that 383 stroker.

I talked to the toy guy, he was OK. I guess he went over 4 or 5 times and landed in the mud:p Says a lot for his cage construction

My brother and I misssed out on the Toy roll, I have 2 pictures of the unimog roll in action and an after shot of the guy. BAd ass. I am getting them developed as we speak. I hope he dosent get mad for me for posting the aftershot, oh well.

Anyway, I had a damn good time. I was worried about it not being extreme enough, or not enoguh competition. The exact opposite.

Plus I got to meet some of the pirates, and drink beer. Fun Fun Fun.

Very cool Kevin! Wish I had been able to make it up there.
Sounds (and looks) like it was a good time.
