Tahoe Cruiser

I need a valve job for my 77 FJ 40 I am told it will probably run between $150-$350 + labor. What about buying a reconditioned head from MAF for $350 and I would know that it was done correct. I don't know about having it done around the Reno/Tahoe area. Not sure of any reputable cruiser mechanics. Also my cruiser is my daily driver and I could have it replaced in a day ( FJ 45 Mike will help me with the install) What do you all think???
Anyone else who wants to help, the    is on me.
Thanks, Ron

Valve job on a straight six should be around $150, but that depends on what needs to be done, and what kind of shape the head is in. Resurface, valve guides, seats, replace valves, its gonna cost more than $150.
I would take the head to a good machine shop, and get an estimate before figuring out what to do. If your head is shot, MAF might be the way to go. You never know, once you get the head off you might find other engine related problems, or it could just need a little refreshening. :skull:

Placerville's not far, check Wardens Automotive, one of the top
'cruiser mechanics around.

Tahoe-
There should be more than a few auto machine shops in Reno that can do the job. About $120-$150 on the bench plus parts. A $350 MAF head plus shipping is a looser-way too much money.
As for Warden's, not worth the drive.
