I want to lift 3 more inches but do not know where I am at now.
anyone have measurements of frame to axle at a know lift hieght?
I think this one is lifted 4-6"
thanks
austynn2001 07-15-2006, 06:00 PM You are a moron.
easy there pal, I had nothing to do with that hideous paint job on your beater truck.
mooktank 07-15-2006, 06:29 PM Ummmmm move some brackets down.
thanks for the suggestion.
I want new springs for the front and will reuse the fronts in the rear.
I bought it used so do not know what is under it.
it has a real nice stance with 35" MTRs but looks way to low for the 38" tires I am running.
so if anyone has a stocker or at least a known lift spring in their 78/9 bronco or f150 (sorry I missed typing that)
fullsize80cherokee 07-15-2006, 07:00 PM Unless you got a purty bronco i would just sawsall it. I wheeled with a guy at moab with a 78-79 bronco with stock suspension on 38's with the fenders just cut a couple inches.
nothing needs to be to cut.
the only thing it rubs on is the radius arms.
it is just too low for my taste.

So lifting it is going to help remove tire scrub on the radius arms? :shaking:
Lifting that Ford won't help your rubbing the radius arms at all. You either need to run a small amount of backspace and a narrow tire, install some "corrected" radius arms, or forget the big tires and lift all together.
now where did I state I was trying to cure the radius arm rubbing?
I am trying to cure the low stance by replacing the front springs, that is it.
I do not think they make a narrower tire then what I am running on this beater.

Well, the notion that you want to lift it and then...
nothing needs to be to cut.

Just made it sound like you were lifting it to level it out and decrease rubbing...:p
mad_boi 07-15-2006, 08:48 PM Got any side shots of your truck?
As for the tire rubbing, you could always run a rim with an inch more (or is that less?) backspacing...meaning an inch further away from the axle.
currently have about 8 inches from the frame to the bumpstop lump on the axle.
just noticed the bumpstops are gone

That would be less backspacing. Too much = lots o' stress
Halogrinder 07-16-2006, 07:00 PM just turn your steering stops in, thats what i did. i got 38's on my junk w/ a 4 inch bc bronco spring in mine. it didnt lift it 4 inchs, maybe 2 1/2-3 or so.
i dont hit ANYTHING..... fenders, RA's, bumper inner fenders..... its nice
NetBSD 07-16-2006, 07:12 PM stock 78 f150 with 31's that stood about 30" high, forget what it was from hub to fender but this might give you a close idea

any chance someone will put a tape axle to frame for me?
skipped_Link 07-16-2006, 10:55 PM Sorry I can't help you with the measurment, but if you find that you currently have a 4" lift, I do have a set of front springs that will net you about 3" more lift,
Shameless plug but P.m. me if interested,
just to make you guys happy I put a washer under each steering stop.
my previous solution was to not turn the steering wheel so much.
I am gonna just buy the 9" JBG springs.
collinsperformance 07-17-2006, 08:30 PM if you had some pics of the front and rear suspension we might be able to tell you the lift. if there is is more than 1 block in the rear (stock shim is 1") then that is part of the lift. looks like a 78-79so there might be block on the front too...mike
MX500 07-17-2006, 10:43 PM How could there be blocks in the front? Thats unsafe to do with leafs, and you can't put a lift block under a coil. if you have blocks in the rear, chances are you will have a 3" block and an "add-a-leaf" if you have a 6" lift. The add-a-leaf will stand out, they usually have straight cut ends, and are not tapered.
looks easy to put a lift block under the coil mount
with springs as cheap as they are why bother
el amo 07-18-2006, 11:10 AM Well mj, you now have solutions for all your problems. I'm hoping someone comes along with a measurement for you because I am trying to determine how much lift my coils are too, but have nothing to compare to. Does anyone know how tall a stock coil is with the full vehicle weight on it?
F0rdFre@k 07-19-2006, 06:52 AM bla bla bla...and you can't put a lift block under a coil.... bla bla bla...
Me thinks you should know more about what you speak about before you speak.
97 and Up Jeep Wranglers have 4 wheel coils. An el-cheapo lift is to add coil spacers to increase ride height. It's best suited when you mix a coil spacer and a body lift to maximize lift cheaply. :flipoff2:
Seriously though, you CAN put lift blocks on coils. Above? Under? Does it matter?
9" springs arrived today.
got them pretty much stuffed under the truck.
I think the old ones were 6", looked perfect with 35" tires
I have about 11" from framerail to the bumpstop pad on the dif now, looks good with the 38" tires.
American 07-28-2006, 02:38 AM you dipshits should have just given him the damn measurements. I don't get you people sometimes...

I flipped the rear shackles to level it after work tonight

but other than that i like it
Halogrinder 07-29-2006, 06:42 AM wayyyyy too high for me

I agree. sometimes the folks in this forum are very helpfull.
But at othertimes, (such as this thread) People go out of there way to be assholes.
This was a simple question for a bronco owner.
94stepsideford 07-29-2006, 08:55 AM wayyyyy too high for me
For a mud rig id run it. for a trail rig needs 5" of lift cut out and some sawzall action
I daily drive it and run trails with it.
It doesn't have the power to run mud.
what it needs is a winch, and beadlocks, and my11.00r16XL, and new tub.
the lowrider look is not my thing.
Halogrinder 07-29-2006, 12:07 PM low rider or not, my junk is just fine in the mud where it sits. just personal taste, i guess.... although form isnt really following function here, but whatever :)
yup, personal taste.
form is following function, just without butchering the lines of the truck.
American 07-29-2006, 05:41 PM I don't like the lowrider look. But I don't like the about to tip over look either...
:flipoff2:
NHRedneck 07-29-2006, 09:07 PM i def think its too tipsy/ tall for a true serious trail runner..... class VI queen sure. im not even gonna touch the subject of the jackstands on top of the cinder blocks...... deathtrap....... im gonna be running 38 or 39s on my F150 and though i wont need the fender trimming i did it anyways, and im only gonna run the 6" springs.....

it is 1 inch higher then GubNi's truck that you liked in the other thread.
that 1" makes a huge difference I guess
mine is all suspension and he used a body lift
NHRedneck 07-29-2006, 11:36 PM i liked the way his flexed with those 6" springs, and it was a lil tall for my likings..... i woulda ditched the bl

You also dont have to drive it. I needed to run 8" of lift with my 35's WITH trimmed fenders just to keep the tire from taking out my fod damn inner fenders
also the optical illusion with the super skinny tires make it seem like it is on stilts.
with a set of wide tires the proportions look completely different.
when I took the 38.5/16/16.5 off my chev to run XLs it looked way taller, as does this Ford.
you try and build a truck how you want and post some pics for me to review.
anyway I am going back into the shop to build a new trac bar and maybe some drop radius brackets to get me by until the rod ends arrive for the 3 link.
Halogrinder 07-30-2006, 11:02 AM :flipoff2: check my sig :flipoff2:
:flipoff2: check my sig :flipoff2:
if you keep killing all the 9" rear ends I won't be able to find one for my 'Stang.
step up to a man sized axle
Halogrinder 07-30-2006, 01:04 PM eh, its hangin in there now that i have built it for the 3rd time
:flipoff2:
she blows one more time and ill step up
American 07-30-2006, 11:36 PM Halo, I wonder how many times you'll have to explain that to people. That's like zkrawler and his 10b.......
16" brakehose extensions
Raybestos p# BH35010
replacement rear hose
Raybestos p# BH380730
I am adapting them to the front as well
Raybesto adds the hardline to the prop valve to the front hose so you cannot add the extension piece to it.
