I am putting in an NP435 into my '88 YJ with the 258 and I have had mixed responses when searching for the right bellhousing, some articles say that I can't use a factory bellhousing from an earlier CJ (with t150/t176/t18), and some say I can. I have an offer for a BH from a 304/t150 from a CJ, and will somebody please confirm that this BH will work or not...or if there's another one that will work.
Thanks,
Jordan

Short answer, yes... T150 Bellhousing will bolt to a NP435.
The mixed responses could be caused by the T-18 in the mix... for example: the T-18s in J trucks had "wackyness" due to the deeper bulkhead, so their bellhousings would be different...
Here's my "flipped 203"/300 doubler after an NP435, and I'm using a T150 BH. (the T150 is in front...)

Yes, bolt pattern in the 304 and 258 are the same. Your issue will be with bellhousing depth vs. "stickout" of the trani. You can check those by measuring the depth of the bellhousing vs. the length of the stickout. If it's a ford installed NP435 it should be fine, I believe.

I'm still not sure if I get your question but I'm using the stock aluminum bellhousing from my 85 cj-7 with a 258 with my NP435, with a pilot buswhinfrom novak
