Just wondering. Wondered if there were any Comer sightings and how it went.

I was there. It was dead. Sales sucked big time. Comer was there, kept moving around and treated me pretty crappy (nice way to say it). Its his last year as the event organizer. He's stepping out and Dale Durham is taking over.
I'll post the miniscule amount of pictures tomorrow.

I was waiting to see the Sherriff serve him up. He was moving so fast it was hard to keep up with him. The only time that I saw him was when he was demanding money from me. I'm not going to get into this pissing match as I can rant about how I was treated as a 'sponsering' vendor... Frankly I'm just going to say that it was nice to be there, see the people that make shows fun, talk to them, enjoy hanging out and the like.
[soapbox]We've let too much crap get in the way of where we are and what we really like doing. My attitude about the RMIHR has been almost destroyed by the politics that have entered there. Frankly I'm glad I went even though it wasn't that pleasant for me. Seeing and talking to people that love IH's was what made it worth the loss. I lost money this year, got several bad looks from the John's, some angry words, but who cares. I'll try and be there next year, and hopefully with new leadership the attitudes of some will somehow be drowned in the common love for IH's ~ you know, like it was a few years ago ~ when people were civil with each other.

I ment Comer and Glancy. Hence the "Johns" comment. Glancy always narrow's his eyes when he walks by me.
Its too bad that no LL dealers showed. They would have made a killing.

I made it up there, what a waste of time, hardly any trucks there and very few vendors, i did get to drive a friends restored 1937 D-2 so that made it worth the trip. I haven't missed one since 1996 but the way it was this year i may not go next year. The bad news is the Comers will still be part of it next year they are doing the games acourding to his wife Pansy. Hopefully the new leadership will do it some good. Just like Damian said i don't think i seen John stay in one place more then a few seconds.

good description.
I really hope the new leadership does something different. They seem to have made the RMIHR better each year (organizational wise) they've put together new activities, but the turn out is getting worse and worse. Maybe what us vendors see behind-the-scene's is becoming more noticable.
I will say that Paul Labar was the best person in a "Event Staff" t-shirt. He was as warm and friendly as ever. Definately my pick for the MVP this year.

Nice of him to show up and bring all those great t shirts for the raffle !
That they didn't sell at last years Nationals !

RMIHR went ok in my opinion, met a lot of old friends and made some new ones. Turnout was low, but I think that can be attributed to the high gas prices. I'm not sure how much of an effect the Comer-Sully problem had on attendance. If it did, that's unfortunate.
Maybe next year I'll bring my IH Freezer and hand out ice cream popsicles or something like that so everyone can beat the heat! It was a hot one this year...

Now that I have a reliable tow rig, I will be hitting up more scout shows.

I ment Comer and Glancy.
The two biggest reasons I will never go to an event that has either one in. :mad3: I don't like jail.
I would really like to go to an IH event and wheel with most IH owners as they really are a great group . Like the SDS club down here.
Snoopy, I DID NOT see YOU or another IH anywhere during my July 4th weekend run to Carnage BV, Chinamans, Blanca, Iron Chest and other trails run. WHERE WERE YOU? :flipoff2: Yes I know you supposely ran Carnage BV. What else?
If the locals in Salida did mention a Scout that was there during the 4th, that was me. I couldn't do a damn thing to the Scout without a crowd gathering. A friendly crowd I may say that was extremely happy to see a Scout on the trails. Hell, even the LEOs were cool. :smokin:
I did have a fatigue failure of a 35 spline stub and a broken main leaf. :grinpimp:

Interesting. Funny those guys will never step up and just watch a great thing sink. Its such an easy cure but the dedication to the "Good OLE BOYS" is harming the event. I know plenty of folks who didn't go because of the committees lack of action over the Comer issue. As long as he is involved and doesn't resolve the issue it will be a cloud over the event. I've personally recieved a ton of emails concerning his actions and the comittees lack of action and there was an underground boycott. Not motivated just a statement that enough is enough. Chalk it up to whatever you want but that was the common theme in the correspondence I recieved. Congrats to the BInder Bee and the turnout and fun. Carma is a great thing

Man, I was still working on Rusty then. don't remember what, but I was still working on her.
Yes I know you supposely ran Carnage BV. What else?
That's it. Carnage after RMIHR (Sunday). Busted up my ankle when I slid down some rocks but it was a very clean run.
I wish I could have met up with you. Its a shame I missed wheeling with ya out here. I look forward to a AZ trip next year when its not so dang hot down there.

Ya, they're pretty tolerant of us 4wheelers since most of them are as well. Besides, we're a pretty helpfull bunch ~ for the most part ~ so they don't tend to mess with us.

I missed the first year in Bailey and '05 because of Alaska but made every year in between. Good times and good people over the years. Won't be back until Comer's gone. Ours was fun (AZIHR) but seems to have passed on.

Hey Fleckster, it's the people that dwell on the politics that ruin the shows for all I.H. people. We noticed no politics, just a lot of good I.H. people enjoying themselves. BTW the two or three times you were there you must have been dreaming of snowcapped peaks the other four times. BBTW those do look like the bumpers Iho Chad and his dad have been building for years!!!!! Just messing with you. Don't get your G-string panties all ruffled up.

The IH people have always been great. Even with the small turn out this year, the people were great.
My first year at RMIHR was in Fairplay and even tho I was expected to show up with Lil Mule and set up a vendor booth, I didn't. I actually look at that year as one of the best years as I simply walked around as 'joe nobody' talking with the various people. I checked out stock rigs, and extreme rigs (Kings and Swartz's 800s). I was able to chat on a more personable level with people. It was allot easier to talk to people when you're not 'the D and C guy' ~ as people don't think I like the stockers or resto jobs. When I was there and no one knew me, everyone talked openly and I was able to enjoy their particular flare for the IH world.
When you're there with a rig like Rusty, it seems that people want to talk about your rig, not theirs. I like hearing peoples plans and dreams about their IH. You can really get a different feel then.

I've always enjoyed RMIHR, even when I had a horrible time getting there. :)
Sorry we missed it (two years in a row now!) but the plan is to make an appearance next year.
The United Convention is in Grand Junction next year, either right before or right after RMIHR, so we'll hit RMIHR, United AGM, and Moab all in one trip.

Damn straight, where do you think I got my idea!!! :D
Of course a frozen treat isn't quite in *direct* competition with drinks...they compliment each other.

this is the first year i have not attended. I have been slacking on my truck as well but, I just wasn't in the mood for the comer show. Neither was alot of my Scout buddies. Glad to hear there is new blood coming into carry the torch. Hopefully they will add more fun stuff. When my dad asked me to go and get a semi trailer for him in San Antonio that weekend it sounded like more fun. Oh well at least I was driving an IH ( well Navistar ) hope that counts. Sorry I wasn't there to hang out with you Terraizer, Rusty looks good Damian.
