i have a CO2 tank and regulator for my lincoln mig, i'm wondering if anyone has used the tank and regulator, just adding the quick release chucks and the rest that'll allow you too air up.

is there anything else i'll need? is there any reason this will not work?
anyone have experiance with them?

thanks!

My regulator can't handle the flow and freezes up.

I used an old CO2 fire extinguisher tank.. cut off the tub that went to the bottom... screwed an oxegen regulator on where the exitnguisher hose use to mount. used O2 reg. cause it was cheap on sale... on old welder told me for short time use like this the O2 regulator would be fine

it was the large type O2 brass reg.

it worked great till it was stolen. I ran tools on it only briefly though.

hmm, i need the regulator for welding, so i don't want to damage it, i guess i'll head down to the welding shop and ask them how much i can run through it safely.

Just about any size reg would be ok for airing up tires slowly. I have a co2 tank used for soft drinks with a very large brass regulator and I have an air line quick connect on it. My dad used it for homemade beer from the keg, and I use it to run air tools at remove locales. You can easily run your air impact off it, set it for 120 psi and spin them lug nuts off whereever you like. I used it at the race track when I was into that an needed to add some speed to the pit crew. I suppose the small regs for mig welders are designed to flow so little volume they probably cant run air tools, but hte big regs with brass bodies, say 3" diameter body, will run large volumes for short periods. They get mighty cold though and will freeze your skin ifyou touch them.

by the way, what kind of lincoln mig do you have, and how do you like it?

Tim i have a lincoln SP135T and i love it!
i'm busy making Mikes (guy from the peg, with the silver YJ, running 35s and the trailready front bumper) rear bumper and tire carrier at the mo, it's fine on 1/4" with .035 flux, and the rest with gas.
i really like it, i guess i'll look out for another regulator for wheeling then.
thanks,
we have to hook up some time!
may be go wheeling and grab a  !

Try looking up Williams Balloons and Helium. They just started selling non adjustable co2 regulators for the off road crowd. Their website dosn't list prices but that should only be a quick phone call away.
