Trying to see if there are any rifles worth purchasing in CA. However I read that only perm. attached 10 round mags are legal? Is that the case?

If so, seems like its not worth owning  someone skool me?

This is a pic like mine - .357 10 shot tubular magazine:

Load my own ammo and get 1800 fps out of it. Very accurate as well.:D

Something along those lines. An assault rifle would be cool, but if 10 round mags is all I get, then I'd rather go with something like pictured above..

I want to try and get one before CA passes any more laws banning them all-together

Thanks :D

Just move. Problem solved

CA's weapons rules suck ass and make little sense. IIRC you can have two of the following.

magazine ,(removable), more than 10 rounds
Muzzle break / flash suppressor
folding stock
pistol grip

Both of the rifles you pictured are illegal in CA in the configurations pictured.

This one is definately worth having. http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-rifles-m1a-stan.shtml Only a ten round mag in cali, but still a kickass rifle nonetheless.

Can't have a removable magazine and a pistol grip on the smae rifle in cali.

I like SoCal :)
The guns pictured were actually taken off a california gun forum from a "post your rifles" thread.. although quite a few of them are preban, which is probably the case with these..

I don't see a point in owning an assault rifle with a 10 round mag. I'd much rather have a sniper / long range rifle setup

took a short class and shot some rounds at Firing Line, also signed up for the yearly membership.

My right arm/grip is pretty weak, and while I was pretty decent with a .357 revolver, both the p226 and usp45 recoiled more and threw the aim way off. Once we're done moving in, I'm going to start hitting the gym again and eating more and build strength back up, so the shooting will get better. definitely gotta get together with some pbb'ers for some shooting :D

Yep, go get yourself a Remington Model 700. They come from in just about any trim level, from the off the rack hunting rifle to the heavy fluted barreled sniper style rifle.

The top is a Model 700 VS (Varmint Synthetic) with a 4.5x14x50mm scope and the bottom is my model 700 hunting rifle. The 700 is a great platform to build off of, plenty of aftermarket parts to keep you happy with a relatively low buy in.

Hey Spawn... hit me up on AIM. I am doing an AR-15 build right now. I suggest you read this http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=266355

so yes... you have to have the attached 10 round mag. to make it legal.... also limits the types of accesories you can put on it as well. I myself, well.... lets just say for all intents and purposes that my rifle will be kept in Colorado :) I will eeventually be getting a tax stamp as well for a silencer as well

Bushmaster makes a pump action AR variant that I believe is legal in California. At least it "looks" like a black rifle and all mean and stuff:flipoff2: but I would just go with a good lever gun--can't beat Marlin especially with the new lever revolution ammo that is out.
But then there is always the Daisy--in case you don't already have one:

Actually according to Cal Guns (and the current law) those Rifles are legal as they have fixed 10 round magazines. There is a "tool" required to eject the magazines...which is nice for when you go out of state. OR IF YOU'RE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY

That's not correct by any means. Threaded barrels are NOT OK by any means. You can have a pistol grip, collapseable stock, and flash hider IF the firearm has a 10 round fixed mag.

that is the base deal for pre-ban, ban stuff for the rest of the country. california and mass take it to a whole other level.

I'll be goin to the duarte store (gun runners) and will see what they have. I'll try to get the rock river arms, but if they don't have it, might have to get a stag or somethin.

how many you picking up?

yep they are on the list thats why

stag, bear, and a few other of the "new" name lowers are NOT on the list. You have to look around and find a FFL dealer that can bring the offlist ones in fast, sell them, and get new stock in from another offlist name. It takes the DOJ about 2 months to add in new names now to the list.

I thought Rock River Arms were not listed...?

Look on Cal Guns...lots of info there. You just have to find an FFL willing to deal with the OLL (off list lowers). I'll buy a few of them when money permits...as all you need is the lower if the registration period ever starts. Or I just may move out of this fuckin' state.

I've heard very good things about Stag's lowers...I have heard that RRA has some quality issues.

As for the lower.... Ive heard lots of good things about the Stag parts as well. DPMS is good shit too. I was talking with one dealer and he was saying make sure you really check the piece out and that all the roll marks match the factory... been alot of people selling cheap chinese knockoff recievers claiming theyre RRA and such. That came from the guys over at Legal Transfers (one of RRA's oldest dealers)

I've been told that the RRA lowers were manufactured by the same company as the Stags. Anyone else hear that? If so, I would try to pick up a Stag. I've heard positive feedback on them (haven't built on a Stag or a RRA myself).

BTW - Spawn, I personally would try to buy as many lowers as you can afford. You can sell them later when CA bans them and the price goes sky high. You could pay for several gun builds that way.

California MAY not ban them, and if they did you wouldn't be able to sell them to anyone inside California (just like current legal Cali AR-15 owners).

Nope! And if you have registered assualt weapons (read: anything with a threaded barrel, AR15, AK47 etc.) you are NOT allowed to give it anyone inside the state, including your kids, spouse, etc. It must be destroyed or sold out-of-state. FUCK CALIFORNIA.
