bought the wife an 84 yota with a 4.3/465/205 and the previous owner could never get the clutch working quite right. I posted this question in the yota section but never got a response, what master and slave cylinder combo would work the best to activate the clutch? The previous owner tried a few combos but I never got a real straight answer as to what he had tried...ideas? anyone? Bueller?

the best clutch was the hydraulic clutch. You first need to make sure you have the correct bell housing for the trans cuz if you don't it won't fit.

If it were me this would be my thinking; Find out what 4x4 trucks used the 465 trans -ANYONE???- then call the parts store with these vehicles written down and ask for a clutch slave part # for each vehicle. Physically go to the parts store and compare and make a decision on which looks best for your application - take a yota slave or at least a pattern of the studs and then try to line up a couple if you can, you may have to cut the factory ones and tack your own studs onto the firewall to maintain center with the chev. slave.

Of all the guys I know with manuels (465/420/435) they all run early 80's cj-7 hydro-slave assy. no matter the rig its going in.
