: need ideas on what to do with my rolled 97 s-10???
sfazr2 04-21-2002, 07:14 PM I rolled my 97 SFA s-10 last sunday. I'm having problems trying to decide what I want to do, and would like some input.
It still drives fine, and I still owe $11K on it. Just mangled the cab, fenders and hood.
1. Fix it back to stock (p.s. it's an x-cab short bed)
2. Put in just a new cab, keep the crinkled fenders and hood.
3. shorten the frame, and put on a mini flat bed, ditch the regular bed.
4. Do 2 & 3 and keep it a wheeler. Maybe put full width axles?
What I'm thinking is that, do I want to bother with a lot of this stuff on a truck I still owe on?? Am I just wasting my time? Should I just build a whole nother beat up rig and keep the truck.
I bought a grocery getter to run around in for now so I have some time.
Pdaddy 04-22-2002, 07:39 AM 11K !!!! holy shit man, you better figure somethin out, I say keep wheelin the shit outta it, get your moneys worth in fun!!!! put fullsize under it so you wont roll it next time so easy!!! got pics!!
sfazr2 04-22-2002, 06:49 PM I think this cements the fact that I want an exo cage. I found a new cab with the same color, so I'll get the new cab but keep the old beat'n up fenders and hood. I'll continue work on the truck while trying to put most of the miles on my grocery getter.
Sorry no pics. Will try to get some soon. You should see the 'getter I got. It's a mazada 323 thats been converted to a pickup. perfect parts getter.
Heavy Metal Toy 04-25-2002, 04:13 PM tube tube tube tube!!! btw that really sucks!
obviously, I have nothing useful to say. :smokin:
1Burb1Scotch1Beer 04-27-2002, 08:14 AM $11K:eek: Ouch!!
I suggest hacking off the upper portion of the cab, put a welded cage on it, bob the bed, lose the fenders and let the good times roll (no pun intended)
Jettech 04-27-2002, 10:16 AM 11 grand !
I say let the insurance Co fix it,I doubt the leinholder let you run around without Ins.
you may be covered,If they find out you don't have it they will open one for you ,but you would know cause your paymen goes up:D
FULLSIZE 04-29-2002, 09:05 AM i'm with jettech, let the insurance company fix it back to stock. thats to much of an investment in my eyes to just beat on it. buy an older s-10 and go full width, etc.:D
Rockit 04-29-2002, 09:14 AM Turn the claim into the insurance co, but have them cut the check to you. Fix it yourself with used parts and have some $$ left over for  or the start of a trail rig.

Ill second that one.
Ten_Bucks 04-29-2002, 01:27 PM I'm gonna second the vote for option number 4.
pitter 04-30-2002, 12:54 AM If u are loaded then I would make it a trail rig with all the goodies ,but if not just fix all the bent sheet metal, put a new cab on and paint it and sell it or still drive it, That sux man 11k's a lot of $$

I say you do a combination of 1 and 3. fix everything, except put a flat bed on it instead of regular bed. then put the bigger axles on there, and since you are going to have to replace the cab, make a roll cage for it.
sfazr2 05-01-2002, 08:44 PM Sorry i forgot to mention that I called my insurance, and they don't cover off road. So we thought about staging "on road". But if they had record of that call......???????
They did ask for my account # just as SOP
I've bought a new cab for $550. Different color, but not too bad.....black, with the rest of the truck red
I'm going to try and use all the old banged up sheet metal. I really want to build a cage, and I have the $$ for a bender, but my job is kinda unstable right now so....
I'm planning on moving the axle forward and put a mini shortbed though.
Pdaddy 05-02-2002, 07:54 AM You are makin me so proud, you are goin to turn that thing into a wheeler come hell or.......11k, I love it you are a true inspriation to other s10 owners, a fellow s guy that actually wants to wheel the piss out of it! I salute you ! I hope the job comes around so you can keep up the madness!!!
jjlaw 05-02-2002, 01:50 PM you should just tube it up and change everything to fiberglass trailer producsts in hemet california you could have gotten a pro baja style one piece fiberglass body for 700.00 and new fiberglass one piece front end for 400.00 than you could and build and exo cage around that
sfazr2 05-03-2002, 01:38 AM well sorry but the $1100 in fiberglass could pay for my bender, notcher and drill press. Good idea though for the independantly wealthy
