: Vortec Fuel Regulator Help

I need some help.

I've installed a 2000 vortec V6 in a Jeep but I've installed a fuel cell instead of using a GM tank. At the same time I've installed a frame mounted fuel pump instead of the stock pump.

The pump I've got is putting out 95 psi but the engine only needs 65psi. Summit is telling me that I've got to install a 3 port regulator and connect the 3rd port to a return line ( and cap off the original return line from the fuel rail).

Is this true? Any of you folks done this?

Thanks

Steven

I have a 94 CPI vortec V6 motor and have my stock tank set up and used my existing return fuel line from my plenum. I used a fuel pump from napa that was rated for around 50 or so psi. I am not sure what the added pressure will do to the pressure regulator inside so I would be carefull. My pressure regulator did take a crap on me and cause my pressure to jump to about 80 psi which my motor did not like very much. Are you using one of there vortech fuel pumps? I did find out that jeep fuel lines are a little smaller then the GM ones so it might be a good idea to get bigger ones down the road. Mine havent given me any trouble yet.

The injectors are designed to work at a set pressure. If you install the 3 port regulator and return line the fuel/air mixture will be what the injectors/engine management system is designed for and it'll work well and last longer than if you didn't.If you don't it will give you fits chasing down problems.Do it right and you'll be happy. While you're at it send the injectors out and have them cleaned/flowed and balanced. It's woth the money, about $25 a piece.

What I've learned so far is that the stock pump from the 2000 S-10 puts out 94psi and the fuel rail regulates the pressure. The pump I've got puts out 95 psi so I should be more than safe if I decide not to install a regulator.
