Search and Rescue Info (Tahoe Area)

I live in the Auburn area (Tahoe National Park) and was thinking of volunteering for the Search and Rescue group in my area. I have seen a couple of search and rescue vehicles in my town but not many. Does anyone have any info on who to contact and what procedures are necessary to get involved. Thanks for any info.

SAR in Calif is the responability of the Sheriffs Dept of each county unless they, the S.O. give it up to some other group like fire etc. I would try to contact your S.O. and I'm sure they have a group of volunneers you could join.
