One more for Monday

Well what you-all finish? I got the fixed fan installed, need a RCH to clear the belt for the compressor. I’ll have to run a ½” spacer, only need a 1/8” spacer. Plenty of clearance between the rad and fan. Still need to make a shroud. Went with an 18” Flex-a-lite fixed fan. The some beetch moves some air, it’s going to take a while to warm up in the morning and it’s fawk’n noisy.

Replaced brake pads and bearings up front. Realized that the previous owner tried to do some sort of hub conversion with Warn's but, from the looks of it, forgot to put in the little peice that connects the hub body to the axle! :smokin:  So, I guess I have to buy new hubs now too....What was that Hayraker? It never ends? Looks like next weekend I'll be putting in the new hubs...

In my parents mini van!! :D

Actually, I was helping my parents plant trees on their property over in sequim, and she drove their mini van into a bunch of mud and got stuck. I got to get it out. Mud was everywhere. But, despite mud against the floorboards, I was able to get it out. Kind of surprised the van got out on its own.

Didn't get to try out the new roll cage Rick welded together for me though :(

Also, crawled around under my truck looking at ladder bar attachments.

I think I am going to use my tranny cross member for the shackle point. Rusty thinks it might not hold up, but since the force from the ladder bar is upward, which is the strong direction for the cross member, plus it will be at the end of a very, very long lever arm (fulcrum very close to the axle) , I think it should be OK. There won't be *that* much force on it. Biggest problem there is my auto shift cable might interfere with the swing of the shackle. Heading up to Everett Steel at lunch today to get some plates for the axle attachment. I'll grab a couple for you too Rusty.

The B&M ratchet shifter cables enter from the FRONT, vs. the stock rear entry cable.. that should fix your clearance problem. :D

I spent the weekend in 2wd.. left Friday afternoon in Michelle's ex-cab '85 2wd Toyota for Polson, MT (200 miles).

Only burned 8 gal of gas there and running around up there. DANG.

'course, as we're cramming everything into the back of the cab, I jokingly stated, "Y'know, we need to just get a crewcab so we can haul all of our (OK, my) junk to these meetings..."

Oh wait, I have one.. it gets 10mpg... that's right.

Anyhow, the Montana 4x4 Assocation had our annual convention (and quarterly meeting) in Polson.

Got to see some new faces and old faces, got to bench race, visit with Rob St. Clair (United 4WD's current Prez and a member of the Polson area Skyliners Club).. handled my duties as Race Rules Chairman..

And got a big surprise and a plaque to put next to my Ugliest Truck and Best Use of Plating awards...

I can now add M4x4A FourWheeler of the Year.

Very cool award to receive. I wasn't expecting anything like that..

Had a chance to eyeball Rob's new NV4500-->D20 adapter he's about to start selling. Got some pics in the digi-cam.

What else? Ordered the CD/MP3 headunit for the crewcab.. :D

No wrenching on Scouts though.. tomorrow night I will.

I.....GOT MY 60 Back:D :D

Anyway..strapped it in and determined that the RC part still ain't helping my fron DL angle. I may have to clock the Atlas down one notch.:(

Finished up my front shackle mounts...Sort of a buggy leaf but mostly set up this way so i never have to weld/cut off/weld them again. If I move the mount, I just need to drill new holes in the cut main leafs. They are not really set up to allow too much droop though.

Finished my front crossmember with the holes for the winch cable to run through it.

Notched my newly finished driver side spring hanger and reinforced it. Now, I can use a YJ ps box mount (MMM Extra Beefy!). Started drill holes for the YJ mount. Should have them finished this week...just need about $40 in grade 8 bolts.

So, here's what left:
Reassemble the front axle with hy steer arms
Cut, and Tap tierod and draglink.
reclock atlas and weld in crossmember
Finish Cage and mount Steering column into it.
Rewire new column
repair exhaust (I got happy with a sawzall when I needed to measure for the crossmember!:rasta: )
Install seats into cage.
Install Fuel cell and Q-Jet carb.

I think that's all...I'm so happy that I don't have kids

I fabbed a new rear bumper/tire mount, Broke out the sawsall and went to town on the rear fenders/over hang. Built some custom cut out flares and rear sliders. I revomed the 3" B.L. , then cut the pucks in half and installed the 1.5 BL. Then Baja Binder came over and I worked on  & :smokin: :D

I didn't get dinkess done to the scout, except for welding on a spring perch. This week is spring cleanup here in town, so I had to get some yard work done. This week hopefully get started on finishing the floors and new cab mount. And think about cutting my doors. I saw a picture of an 800 yesterday, with what looked like inserts, or maybe somebody did what was posted earlier (cutting up the doors) I dunno maybe I need some more

jdjanda, instead of spending alot of time making one, I bought a J.C. Whitney special, bling bling chrome universal shroud on sale for $15, mounted it up this weekend, my fixed fan pulls so much air thru the radiator now that it spins my aux electric fan in front. Plus the chrome really classes up the engine compartment:flipoff2:
