Hey guys I’ve gotten some PM's about how I'm doing since my accident last November.

Here's a link if you never read about it
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=428008

Well I'm doing just fine. I'm almost done with my recovery. I do need to get back into therapy since they decided to move a few cities away. I'm about 90% healed, and I still walk with a limp. It takes me a while to get moving in the morning, and I only have about 1/3 the stamina from before. I gained my weight back. I got down to 175lbs and now I'm back to 215lbs.

I need to start looking for a new career. I'm wanting to find an apprenticeship in mechanics or engineering. If someone knows of anything out there in the Sacramento area please let me know since my state disability runs out in a few months. I'm still optimistic of my new life, I hope things work out for the best.

I bought a 2003 CTD from a DTR member in February and I flew out to Texas and drove it back to California. Since then I have put my own personal touches on it but I no longer feel the need for speed so its 100% stock under the hood.

Here's a few pics of my new rig. I cant say enough good things about everyone who took such good care of me, I truly am a lucky guy.

Hey man, Awsome to here you doing great. New truck looks bad ass. The look of the old truck was proof to me that putting my Family in full size rigs was the right choise no matter what the price of fuel is. I say forget the wrenchin/mechanic thing and go for the engineering job. I've been a Diesel tech for 16yrs and it's starting to takes it's toll. Well enough 'bout me. Dan great to see ya still kickin' ass and takin' names.

Yeah new truck looks good. I cant really see the pics too well, but are those Eagle 114's? I have those wheels (18", 285/65 bfg at, no lift...I hate the look of anything more than a leveling kit on IFS) and I really like them, bought em used for a good price. However putting them thru a winter was the dumbest thing I ever did. They now look like shit up close, the chrome is kinda peeling on some of the edges. :(

Ive seen the clear roof marker's on some other trucks and thought they were kinda rice-ish, but they really blend in nicely with the silver on yours. Does anyone make color coded door handles and mirrors for the Rams? Those might look kinda cool too IMo.

damn I never saw that before. As a fireman I have seen rigs with MUCH less damage and people DID NOT walk, or get carried anywhere but the morgue. You are one lucky SOB, and it seems like you know it. Make the most out of your second chance at life bro.

Good to hear that you are doing better Dan. Thanks for the update and good luck with finding a new job. I'm looking for a job also. I am selling my house in Tahoe and bought a house in Minden. I won't be working full-time up at Sierra this winter. I might work a few times a month to help Laura out though to get a pass and get a little stick-time. Take care and nice truck!

i can attest to the force of those Heavy duty trucks (semi) I was rear ended by a fully loaded semi that was estimated to be going 35 mph, while i was not even moving 1 mph. the enertia those trucks exert is mindblowing, and to think that the goverment allows them to travel the same roadways as us, is fucking rediculous (put them back on the rail!). I walked away from the accident, but was def not alright. Oh yeah, i was in a Cherokee (XJ). Glad to here your doing well, and goodluck with the new career!!

You do realize that something on the order of 80%-90% of all consumer goods are delivered via an intermodal or OTR truck right? So every Target, WalMart...heck, EVERY large consumer goods store shall have its own spur line? :shaking:

Glad to hear about your progress! I took the long way home from Pville today, through Sly Park, and got awful close to a logging truck hauling ass around a corner:eek: . Those trucks don't do the speed limit...especially loaded:mad3:
