Went out wheelin today and when I loaded up heading for home I only got about 100 ft. Then I heard a bang and forward momentum stopped. I have nothing at all except for park and a whole lot of neutrals. LOL So my question is is there any kind of normal "bad traits" to a C6? I assumed they were a really good tranny. If I throw in another, am I gonna be happy, or is there something else I should look at putting in? The tranny is in an 85 4x4 with a 460 (yes, the one I just did all the work to). Also, any ideas what let go? I have no idea how many miles it had on it.
BTW- I guess I'm looking for a C6 now if anyone has one laying around.

C6 trannys are great......
Sounds like a band broke.....Parking pawl is still working though.....check and see if ya have tranny fluid pressure too........
Ive rebuilt a c6, pretty simple....Take off the pan, look for loose chit of course, whatever went in there should be pretty obvious...

Hey neck, a friend of mine has a rebuilt C6 that he would love to sell. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you his number.

2 things happen if your hard on them
the rev-first band can snap
or the imput shaft snapps right after the pump, both are rare really, just slap another in there and you be set.
Or if you curious pull the pan, pull the valve body, then look, you should be able to see what ever is broken from there

I'm finding out that rumor has it this tranny has over 200k on it. If that is the case, I think it probably deserved to die and I should do a complete rebuild, or just find another runner. Either way, I will definately pull the pan and see what I can.
