: got the turbo 345 running, well sort,of (shitty vid)
Chief yelling alot 07-21-2006, 11:18 PM well i took it out for a test to see how its like and dam i never knew a scout can accelrate that fast  its crazy and sounds mean under full booost, its kinda interisting you mash the gas and it takes off the typical scout way then a second later you watch the niddle travel from the vacume margen to the boost margen then its like getting kicked in the ass, the scout get up and takes off i watched it hit 15 lbs and i was holding on perty tight. but thers now a problem it will only runn under full load for a few seconds then it starves from fule :mad3:  but thers somthing wrong with my regulater (i kinda knew before but ingnored it :shaking: it gave me problems before) so i got a shitty clip with no sound from a crappy digy cam of a lame burn out

when the wheel stops is when the it starts to sputter
now i ahve to add this

BLK Scout 800 07-21-2006, 11:55 PM So are you going to get a new FPR or are you going to get a MBC so you can turn the boost down? So you are lean at WOT? Or is it the spark that becomes weak at WOT?
Chief yelling alot 07-22-2006, 12:01 AM im running it with out a wastegate at the moment
well the gate i have now is a .6 bar (bout 9 psi) and i'll run that for now and then when i fine tune it i'll get a MBC and bump it up a tad, and i sure its runs out of gas because it it will idle but if i kill it compleetly ther is no vapor coming from the reg, i can press the prime botten and nothing happends, it it will run like crap with out the turbo conected
the setup

BLK Scout 800 07-22-2006, 12:53 AM Sounds like you have your shit together! Are you going to use it for towing or what? We need a Dyno run or two :flipoff2:
chris408 07-22-2006, 01:10 AM when will you start making turbo kits? :)
budget76 07-22-2006, 10:39 AM Congrats Chief, glad to see it's finally up and running.:smokin:
Now go get her running right and get us a good vid, with sound:flipoff2:
Eagle-Mark 07-22-2006, 01:29 PM Nice work! But I think your underestimating the temperature of the turbo by placing there air filter there?
Chief yelling alot 07-22-2006, 03:21 PM Nice work! But I think your underestimating the temperature of the turbo by placing there air filter there?
yea im going to wrap it up and add some shielding
and i found out why it was starving for fule
it was out of fule  :shaking:

  I guess it was just one of those days, huh? now you can post the good vid, once you make a trip to the gas station:flipoff2: :D glad to hear the problem was something stupid like that, and not something bigger:cool2:

I hope you get more than one burnout per tank......LOL :flipoff2:

Chief yelling alot 07-24-2006, 12:44 AM I hope you get more than one burnout per tank......LOL :flipoff2:
lol well i dident fill it up properly, i had a large lpg tank 3/4 full and i just ran a hose frem the two so it didden fill much
1974d2004x4 07-24-2006, 12:56 AM Hey nice going with the propane turbo. I twin turboed my 3/4 ton truck and 392 engine, but opted to stay with gasoline and caburetor.. I made one header with weld els...turned out alright...the other I flipped with a spacer. I have taken it to 10psi with internal wastegates and modified them with external springs. I am keeping it at 7psi right now. I messed up my 5speed somehow and I need to fis it so I can't drive it much. I need to do a cold air intake for each turbo and intercool it. It makes a HUGE difference in power on a cool morning so I can only imagine if I can get intake temps to 100 degrees or less. I know calculations showed 50-60 hp if I can drop from 220 to 120 degrees F. I have MSD boost retard, but I can't get it to work right so I am running about 20-25 degrees total timing...where are you at? I would like to get a little more and the boost retard working. Have you checked your AFR ratio? I think propane is down around 7:1 or something. Gas and diesle are right near 14.7:1 but turbo can't run at that....and with carb it can't hold steady anyway. I am about 11:1 WOT, but at times it can be rich...too rich. Detonation is the enemy and that is holding back my power. I need to get some things done before I try to take it to a steady 10-12 psi. It will need intercooled, water injection and my spark control for that for sure. I am running a Holley 650dp that I setup for blow through I also have an Edelbrock 750 I set up, but had to do additional mods after I crushed the floats...ie graft solids on...so I haven't set the grafted floats yet. I would like to try it out again to see how throttle response compares. After I set it I will probably sell it since I only need one depends on whether the motor like 650cfm or 750cfm better.
Chief yelling alot 07-24-2006, 10:12 PM when will you start making turbo kits? :)
lol i was thinking about it, wouldent be that hard ither, providing everody had a a 2" body lift.
but if i was to do it agane ther would be a few things changed

hmmm very interistying :cool2:
as for timing what ever stock is but im timed on idle at 14 but im prety sure my dizzy is fawked i wouldent be suprized if i had a stuck or lose weight or somthing. not sure about the a/f ratio for propane iirc its around 12 but not sure, nice thing with thelpg setup is that it automaticly adjusus that. yea i got to do my cold air intake too just have to make a box aound the filter and have it suck air from behind the grill and maybe the the wheel well, i did a few more pulls around 12 psi (cant go far, no insurace) and not 1 pig. got to love propane. i would highly recomed going [propane or if thers not enough lpg stations around dule fule with a remote boost controller
Chief yelling alot 07-24-2006, 10:25 PM Sounds like you have your shit together! Are you going to use it for towing or what? We need a Dyno run or two :flipoff2:
lol yea a dyno test would be cool. hmmmm and old budies dad is a manager at a diesel perfromace shop...
yea its going to be my runabout towing light camping just traveling and such but BC is all mountins and elavations so its going to be nice to flatten out them hills
orangeamcs 07-25-2006, 08:16 AM For my turbo project although its a bike I just picked up one of these
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php
It will make life alot easier than running to the dyno shop all the time. You can log a/f to rpm and do all sorts of things. This way you can find out your lean spots. In the website they have a section or too that tells about proper a/f ratios for diesel, gas, and propane. You can also use it to tune more than 1 vehicle.
Thought it may help
canaminal 07-31-2006, 03:58 PM Get that thing insured , I'd love to see it shut down my 392!:D
My bud in Maple Ridge has a 1000hp dyno he'll do single passes for me for $75 or so, I may go in on an hour if your interested.
Did you get 26x26 tanks for under yet??
When do I get to do tech insp.?
I also have access to a disc curve mach if you want to limit your adv. to 28-29 total (recomended) Iv'e burned a couple of pistons running 12-14 with a stock dist. it works fine till 2600 rpm + then goes like f**k till a piston melts down! With boost this will be worse if you keep your foot in it on long hills (Coq).
did a recurve on mine limiting it to 14mech adv at crank 14 static runs stong and doesn't have high speed piston heat like the first few.

lol yea im working on the wastegate as wee speek, I put a day temp on it to fill the tanks but it would not fill eaven thow it was 1/4 full (somthing fawked on the filler valve). Also I did not find the 26x26 tanks so i had to do alot more work to fit some 27x33 tanks

yea that dyno idea sounds like a good one plus the dizzy idea, im sure mine is way out and worn out too, i have a few bugs to work out then i'll let ya test it :smokin:
but i got to get my filler thing figured out :mad3:  good thing i had a spare 80gl pickup tank half full laying around, so i am using that to limp it to the station
now im not proud of this but it works
