Stock 95 Silverado x-cab s/b. My son and i are gonna install a 3in body lift next weekend, anything i should know befor i lift it? Anything the instructions "don't" tell you? Its a "Performance Accessories" 3in body lift. I dont want to get half way through and find out i need something else on a sat. or sunday when nothing is open.

Go around and give each body bolt a turn, to see if they're going to break loose or if you're going to have seized bolt problems.

Also, take a night and pull out your seat and take your carpet loose and break the clip that routes the shift cable through the floor. I did this ahead of time and it saved me a lot of time when I did the rest of the lift. Your instructions will tell you exacly how to do this.

Not every body lift kit has provisions for bumper relocation brackets, so that is one thing to think about.
Also, you create a mismatch between your radiator and your fan and fan shroud when you lift the body. Some people will just cut the bottom out of the shroud and loose some of the fans cooling ability when idling.
Your motor could run a little hotter at idle if done that way. But not always.
Or you could do what I have done in the past and fab up some brackets that allow the radiator to drop back down to its normal height and keep your fan and shroud at the right relationship.
Keep and eye out for your wires and cables and make sure that non are too short before you lift.
Also, like Mr. Bluejeep said, check the body bolts and make sure they turn. It would be a good idea to get some penetrating oil and soak them down a day or two in advance. In addition, your old body mount bushings are probably getting old and rotten. Now would be a good time to go online to Summit Racing and order a new set. Will cost around $80.00 for a new set.

The performance accessories kit is pretty complete minus the rear bumper brackets.

Relocating the parking break can be a son of a gun. I used some vice grips and a small flat head, but I stabbed my hand.

I've installed over a donzen on your model truck. It should come with the radiator shroud relocating stuff and the steering shaft extension....use it.

Thank you all for the advise. Sometimes instructions don't tell you "everything". I always try to ask befor I take on something that might leave me stranded. I have read the instructions over and over so I should be ok. Thanks again.

x2, to me the e-brake cable is the most aggrevating part.

the instructions also don't tell you that you will need bigger tires to make the truck look sweet with a lift kit.

Again thank you all for the info. The lift went well and now i know what you all ment about the parking brake cable. It took off the tops of 3 knuckles and pissed me off for the next hour or so....but i got it. 4 cans of black spray paint to cover my dirty ass frame...now it looks better. My problem now is my fuel filler. I had a full tank and ran out of time so i didnt extend it yet. Reached under the bed and put my cap back on and have been driving it all week. But again...... thank you.
