My 14 bolt has a limited slip of some kind. 3 post/spiders and clutches behind the side gears. Below is a crappy pic. So, can I just remove the clutches and weld up everything solid? Do the clutches serve as a spacer of some kind?

you can go ahead and weld it up, or track down an open diff because it has a 4 post cross which will give you more gear to gear surface, more welding surface without as much space between the gears, and the case is easir to weld to as it has windows in it the access the gear ball form outside.
