Found a lead on some Vortec heads to put on my '79 block. I am running '88 TBI manifold and I am not sure if my TBI manifold will bolt up to these late model heads. Any insight is appreciated.

The search will turn up MANY hits. Short answer is no, but it can be done.

I did do a search and I found nothing that specifically addressed modifying the TBI manifold to work on the Vortec head. Can someone point me in the right direction on what needs to be done to make these two live in harmony:)

Alex just told you the best solution. Another is using a spread bore (Q-Jet) intake with a TBI adapter (they came stock on TBI 454s, a friend got one off EBay recently). Modifying the TBI intake isn't worth the effort. Also, check out the www.coloradok5.com forums. This was a very common question over there about 4 months ago (roughly).

yeah...cheapest way would be to get one of the carb manifolds for Vortec heads, and then run one of the carb to TBI adapters.

Powerhouse makes a Vortec carb manifold now for $99...and an adapter can be had for cheap money from PAW.
