Okay, I should have just bought a Ford to avoid that whole IFS thing but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.
Anyway, I'm going to order an ORU conversion kit for my 92 2500. I know where I can get a front and rear end. I have basically 4 F-350 to choose from. There is an 86, an 87, an 89, and a 92 (maybe). The axles look the same in all four. I think they are D60 but I know Ford did that D70 with D60 outers or what ever it was on the newer ones???
ORU says I need a D60 from an 86 to 97. Those years I provided, are those going to be D60 or were there other options? They are all 4 door rigs if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance.

if their not hinged in the center than their 60s just get a kingpin one

F-350s never came with a "hinged in the center" front axle.

Yeah they did. 1980 - 1985.5 had the Dana50 ttb in it.
Get a kingpin 60 and tell us where the other axles are.......please

I'll have to ask the owner of the trucks. I know he intends on keeping a few of them.

Chevy IFS has a driverside transfercase. You can use a Chevy axle but you gotta change the case.

you forgot some info.... What about SRW F350's from 86-87? They had a Dana 50 aka for this thread "hinged in the center"
animator, might want to research before you make such a strong post. It helps if you've books you've pulled the info from, not just surfing the net.
bah, books... burn 'em I say!!

Umm... I would say at least optional. I've come across a few 86-87 F350 SRW crews (logging crummies) with the D60 front. I know I'm not off on the years because they had carb'ed 460s.

You guys are funny. Posting info that you "think you know", spreads the misinformation.
All 80-85 F-350's were the Dana 50 IFS. All '86-'91 F-350's had a Dana 60 with kingpins. '92 they went to ball joints, then in '94 or '95 they went to the removable caliper bracket (same as newer Superduty brakes). Anytime you see an 80-85 F-30 w/ monobeam, someone has done some work.
Spicer never listed a Dana 70 Front for Ford. I am not saying it isn't listed in an owners manual somewhere, I am just saying they didn't ever produce one. Dodge was shipped D70 Fronts from Dana. Quigley, the 4x4 van company has used a Dana 70 front in their custom builds.
Get the kingpin models whenever possible they are much easier to adapt high steer arms to, and the kingpins will outlast the ball joints.
My 60 is a 78 Ford HP with GM knuckles out. Ford kingpin knuckles are known for cracking.
