: creaking and poping sounds
blazin91 07-23-2006, 09:45 AM ok i have a 91 full size blazer with 8in super lift, d60 front and 14bolt rear. when i make turns mainly tight turns and the body rolls a little or i go up a curb it makes all these creaking and poping sounds. it sounds like some of the sounds are comming from under my feet when im driving. i have replaced all my bushings and body mounts and its still making the sounds. anyone have a similar problem or know what this might be?
thanks
Clint
Paul Gagnon 07-23-2006, 09:47 AM Have you checked your ball joints and tie rod ends?
blazin91 07-23-2006, 09:58 AM the d60 doesnt have ball joints and i haven checked the tie rod ends. but its a poping i can almost feel under my feet when im driving. it seems to only happen when the body rolls or flex
BLOODMEAT 07-23-2006, 11:12 AM Could be your drive shaft isn't long enough for that much lift and when it corners the splines disengage a little.

trkklr77 07-23-2006, 07:00 PM or the body mount that is directly under your feet!!!
be sure to check and lube your muffler bearings and blinker joints.

Home Built 07-23-2006, 09:30 PM If you have not rotated the air in your tires.... You might have one that is heavier then the other....:flipoff2:
YamanX 07-23-2006, 10:07 PM Have you checked the headlight fluid?
tristanp 07-24-2006, 12:24 AM we get this alot with offroad vehicles, ramp you vehicle (one wheel)then check for cracks in the sheetmetal on the firewall. its really common, when you patch go at least 2" either side of the crack with panel steel, if you only weld the crack and it will last a few days..
bigdreamin 07-24-2006, 08:21 AM you may also want to check your kanewter valve, also did you take the winter air out of your tires and put summer air in?
seriously though sounds like king pins
blazin91 07-24-2006, 11:36 AM i lubed the muffler bearings, checked the carberator axles and changed the air in my tires. jack ass' lol ok but ya i have replaced all the body mounts. i need to find a ramp so i can check for cracks in the firewall. i dont know how to check if my king pin is bad but i think i still heard the noise when i had the stock axles. will leaf springs make noise if they get rusty? it seems like not alot of people use the superlift could it be crapy springs? it kinda leans to the passenger side too.
Check for cracks in the frame....
Look behind the steering box. And get a brace if you don't have one www.offroaddesign.com
blazin91 07-24-2006, 12:12 PM if there is a crack, will it be easy to notice or do i need to clean the frame and get a flash light. i have looked at that area and around the body mounts and havent seen anything maybe i just need to look better.
Clean it if you can't see the frame well. You might remove the steering box - 5 minute job - just to make sure.
